v2.3 makeSea for Node.JS+ 25.5.0
The steps to make a SEApp is evolving and been further streamlined in Node.JS v25.5.0. Now, only Node.js executable itself is needed, using the new --build-sea commandline line option. I.e., blobs and postject are no longer needed. Thus, this makeSea may soon be retired, while remaining as a SEApp code example for bundling assets.
Accompanying makeSea.exe and node.zip should replace the old ones in repo.
v2.2.2 makeSea (Self-contained)
Utility to make a SEApp (Node.JS Single Executable Application) with little fuss.
- Auto-generates SEA config and rest of process flow to generate the .EXE.
Just run: node makeSea.js yourApp.js to generate yourApp.exe.
- If you've assets to bundle, run:
node makeSea.js -i yourAsset1.txt -i yourAsset2.zip yourApp.js - See README for details.
This version:
- Upgrade to Node.JS 22.6.0.1+.
- Assets need not be in working directory; can specify path to asset elsewhere.
- Embeds npm, postject and node executable for SEApp. They will self-extract if not found in working folder.
- As makeSea.exe is now too big for Git, it is attached here instead in a ZIP archive.
