Long Baseline progress

Sean Andrews edited this page Oct 11, 2017 · 64 revisions

This is a real-time tracking of our program's progress in long-baseline observations. For each target, we requested 2 execution blocks (EBs). These were nominally going to be done in one of two configurations (with half the targets done in C40-8, and the other half in C40-9), but the late arrival in the long-baseline configurations means its more haphazard. The C40-8 and C40-9 configurations were done in September at the end of Cycle 4. The C43-10 configuration is ongoing in Cycle 5; it will shift back to C43-9 around October 21, then to C43-8 in November.

The quick-look images are presented as a courtesy of the NAASC. They are from a single EB (EB1), and have not been self-calibrated, combined with the short-spacings data, or optimized in any way (and I cannot control, nor do I really know, how the imaging was performed; we need to wait for data delivery to learn that). What we come up with should eventually be somewhat better, and could look somewhat different (especially for diffuse features). The images here have been stretched by eye (by Sean) to accentuate some features. If you want to play around with the .FITS files directly, they are available on the internal team webpages (see the main wiki page for the username/password). Of course, these images are not to be used or shown elsewhere without permission of the PIs, as stated in the Guiding Principles document.
