ROOTKIT v0.5.0
ROOTKIT v0.5.0 adds a larger three-subnet campaign with shared route choices, distinct boss encounters, and music driven by the fight.
- Clear each boss, regroup at the powered teleporter, and vote on the next route. Larger arenas include hidden side rooms and route-specific terrain.
- Capture Sentinel Array’s spires, dismantle Worm.exe’s regenerating chain, and survive Root Cause’s three attack phases.
- Earn upgrades through a revised late-game XP curve that leaves more room for builds to develop across the campaign.
- Hear enemy actions and player attacks join the musical ensemble, with more breathing room between chase accents.
- Explore varied circuit layouts, redesigned craft and enemy hardware, clearer combat feedback, and a refreshed HUD.
- Choose starting programs, complete network jobs, and share relay defenses. Controller program selection and menu navigation are restored.
- Multiplayer simulation now uses deterministic math across supported platforms. Everyone in a co-op session must update to this release.
Validation includes 66 functional suites, an earned-upgrade campaign completion, focused follow-up checks, and a passing local performance gate. Live relay delivery works after direct-connection timeout; direct NAT punching did not connect on the test network. Human listening, physical-controller feel, and full co-op across separate networks remain follow-up playtests.
Downloads are available for Windows, Linux, and macOS. The macOS build is signed and notarized; the update manifest is signed.

ROOTKIT v0.2.2 — co-op actually plays
Both players must install this build.
Fixes:
- Co-op through the relay no longer freezes. On about half of sessions the game entered play then froze at the opening tick — sound but no motion until you died — because the session id was compared signed on the wire and unsigned in the sim, so every input packet was refused. Now consistent.
- Co-op through the relay reliably starts (the host's START could be refused when it arrived alongside the lobby welcome).
- A host closing the room ends the other players' runs cleanly instead of crashing.
- Settings screen covers the menu behind it; 'abandon run' works again.
- Relay: a host waiting alone in the lobby is no longer dropped after 30 seconds.
ROOTKIT v0.2.1
- The settings screen is opaque: the pause menu and the shop no longer show through it (#1, thanks @STRML).
- Abandon run from the pause menu works again.
- A host closing the room ends the client's run cleanly instead of crashing it.
- Co-op through the relay starts reliably.
- The relay only disconnects a peer it still holds.
- Lobby start delay scales with the roster size.
- Per-session net diagnostics behind
--netlog.
