Kival 0.1.3

Kival 0.1.3 improves the core object workflow in the web app, making it faster to create, connect, edit, and navigate knowledge inside Kival.

This release also includes several runtime, CI, dependency, and documentation improvements.

What's improved

  • object editing has been streamlined to reduce friction during normal use
  • connected objects can now be created directly from the current context
  • object creation supports richer connection workflows
  • context panes can remain open while navigating between objects
  • object actions have been standardized across the application
  • graph workflows have been improved
  • the database pool now remains alive through runtime shutdown, avoiding shutdown-order issues
  • server and API-key composition now share more of the same implementation

Featured changes

Object editing and graph workflows

Object editing and graph interactions have been streamlined to make working with Kival's knowledge graph feel more direct.

Common editing actions require less navigation, and the surrounding graph context is easier to work with while making changes.

Connected object creation

Kival can now create new objects directly in connection with the object you are already working on.

This makes it easier to build out related knowledge without first creating an isolated object and connecting it afterward.

Connection options during object creation have also been extended, making graph construction a more natural part of the creation workflow.

Persistent context panes

Context panes can now remain open while navigating between objects.

This allows supporting information to stay visible as you move through related knowledge, reducing the need to repeatedly reopen context while exploring or editing a graph.

Runtime shutdown fix

Kival now keeps its database pool alive for the full lifetime of the server runtime.

This fixes a shutdown-order issue where the pool could previously be dropped before all runtime components had completed their shutdown work.

Upgrade

Existing installations can update to Kival 0.1.3 with:

kivalup --update
