ScreenFind v1.3.0
What's New
Performance
- Near-instant hotkey response — overlay windows are pre-warmed at startup (HWND + layout cached). Hotkey latency reduced from ~1s to ~100-200ms (4-5x faster)
- Smoother drag-to-select — highlight rectangles are pooled and reused instead of recreated every frame
- Non-blocking clipboard — copy operations run on a background thread so the UI never freezes
UI
- Custom app icon — new icon (magnifying glass + screen with highlighted text) replaces the generic Windows icon in taskbar, titlebar, and system tray
Under the Hood
- Overlay windows hidden on dismiss instead of destroyed, reused on next hotkey press
- Screen capture runs on background thread via Task.Run
- Removed leftover debug output
Full Changelog: v1.2.0...v1.3.0
ScreenFind v1.2.0
What's New
- PaddleOCR engine — optional high-accuracy OCR engine, available as a checkbox in Settings. Significantly more accurate than Windows OCR on small and low-contrast text.
- Trade-offs: ~5-6 seconds extra per capture, ~600 MB RAM (vs ~150 MB with default Windows OCR)
- Default is OFF — Windows OCR remains the default for speed
- Engine pre-loads in background when enabled so first capture is faster
- Works alongside Enhanced OCR (image preprocessing) for best results
