I'm developing a feature that processes webhooks from an external service. How do I get the external service's webhooks connected to my local development instance?
To work with webhooks locally, you can use ngrok to export a local http port to a domain they control. You can use https with this as well through their domain.
ngrok will display two URLs once started. Note that these URLs are randomly generated and will change if you restart ngrok. You will need to redo webhook configuration every time.
In the developer portal for the external service you're working with, find the page that lets you create a new webhook. Enter in your URL along with the webhook path, e.g. https://generated.ngrok.com/api/webhook.
Once you trigger anything that causes a webhook, you should see the request in ngrok and also your server.
