Release list
4.4.16
Changed
- Fetched engines are checked against the size and SHA-256 checksum their release lists,
or a checksum built in for the few that come from elsewhere. A download that does not
match is thrown away, and one kept for a reinstall is checked again before use - Engines are only ever fetched over https
- An archive claiming to unpack to more than a gigabyte is refused
Fixed
- The opening page's tab is lit outright rather than faded in, and the title bar animates
and restyles only when the page or the shade changes (tinytk 1.5.4)
Refer to CHANGELOG for the full history.

4.4.15
Changed
- The about dialog's runtime hint names the toolkit and its version
- A card repaints only the parts its animations move, and the tabs outside that strip are
skipped - tinytk 1.5.3: damage is tracked as pixel strips and only what changed is repainted, the
frame is presented on the CPU alone, and on Wayland the compositor receives only the
rectangles that were painted. A combining mark is drawn centred over its base, and the
caret and an ellipsis never land on one. On Windows a launch passes its arguments as
UTF-8, so paths with characters outside ASCII reach the port intact - The file picker leaves a small gap between selections, and the caret stops blinking when
the field is not focused
Fixed
- Refusing a launch while eight run logs are docked no longer crashes
- A launch refused over a running game keeps the game tracked, so it can still be stopped
- Changing only a game's file is saved right away rather than on exit
- Removing a port or a game takes it out of every profile that named it, as the
confirmation says - A custom command started from the generated pattern reads back as the launch it came
from, where backslashes and dollar signs were lost - A click in the padding under the profile list no longer opens a profile scrolled out of
view - A quick second page change no longer leaves two tabs underlined
- The saves panel no longer blames a demo for leaving out a save that is switched off
- A failed move of the config into the user location leaves the open config unstamped
- A legacy
.inior.zdlwith a byte order mark reads its first section, and a
directory handed as one is refused zdoom32_Nandzdoom32_SSE2are recognised as ports- Switching a file on or off in the add-on list, or removing it, redraws the row at once
instead of on the next relayout - A long command line stops at four rows with an ellipsis instead of running past the
bottom of its preview - Removing the active profile picks the next one without reading the profile just removed
- Closing a run log while the game still prints no longer leaves its pending flush behind

4.4.14
Changed
- ZDL4 is fully idle when nothing is happening. The window no longer wakes once a second
to check for repaint - Only the page on screen is refreshed when something changes, so typing, a running log
and a download cost less while the other pages are hidden - Painting and animations no longer allocate memory every frame
Fixed
- The file picker list now repaints when a single pick moves to another file

4.4.11
Changed
- More performance optimizations:
- release builds are now optimised for speed sacrificing roughly a megabyte per build
- the card shadow, the turned card, text wrapping and the running log's filtering are
much faster now
- ZDL4 is now built with a wlshm bypassing the gpu stack making paints faster and using
a lot less ram on wayland. X11 and windows use a software framebuffer by default so
already had these optimizations

4.4.7
Added
- Auto close switch in the profile run settings of DOS ports
- A batch file can now be a DOS port
Changed
- A DOS port runs from its own folder, which DOS/4GW programs need.

elsewhere, and copied under the searched for name only when misnamed
Fixed
- Runs under DOSBox toggle now works in the engine edit menu
- Hand pointer shown in the add-ons list where no action is possible
- File picker no longer resets scroll position on selection
