Slow and buggy editing in Bard fields / arrow keys not working

Bug description

I'm noticing several performance issues with Bard field types in Statamic 6.1. I can pinpoint exactly what it is, but sometimes it's slow to respond to key presses, and other times it ignores them completely.
Here's what I've seen. Sometimes, when using the arrow keys to move around text, they completely stop working. I've also seen a similar issues with undo and redo, where I'm able to undo typing in the field, but then can't redo it

Unfortunately, I don't have steps to reproduce the issue, and I'm not sure whether it could also affect other fields, since we often click around, editing various fields and going back and forth. At some point while editing an entry, I notice the arrow keys and redo stop working, but it may not be exclusive to those.

I thought this may have been a one-off, but we've now experienced it a handful of times.

How to reproduce

No steps to reproduce besides having a Bard field with 400+ words and editing it.

The performance part of this issue seems not a duplicate of #13772.

I’m also experiencing performance issues with larger Bard editors in v6. You can literally watch the editor render, with the toolbar icons appearing one by one and when you then type, everything updates super slow. I can try to provide a more minimal reproduction case, but it’s definitely noticeably slower compared to v5.

I was finally able to get reproduction steps for when the arrow keys and undo (ctrl + z) stop working. I'm not sure if you want me to separate that out into a separate bug because it seems unrelated to the slowness, but here is how to reproduce the arrow key / undo issue.

Create an Entry with a Bard field and sets. When you're writing content, notice that the arrow keys and undo work as expect. Undo will erase multiple words at once and the arrow keys will move character by character.

However, as soon as you add a Set to the Bard field, the arrow keys will completely stop working, and undo starts behaving erratically. It'll take multiple taps of ctrl + z, to undo a single character, instead of how it should normally function.

@duncanmcclean, curious about your thoughts on my comment above. This is our biggest remaining issue, and it seems like it's easily reproducible, at least on our end.

Yes, the undo issue is exactly as described by @nunoc66.

And with very long Bard articles containing many sets, the editor becomes extremely laggy, especially the first load. There is a noticeable delay after every character typed. When pressing Enter, you can actually see the editor re-render and the text briefly "jumps" as it refreshes. For some reason the text is rendering with a different font setting then (look at the 0 in my gif). This is happening in Firefox.

Is there any sort of update on this issue? I'm worried that this report wasn't specific enough. Performance seems to be much better, but the arrow keys and undo not working affect us day-to-day and are hopefully easier fixes. I'd be happy to split them out into separate issues if that's helpful.

We have a similar issue. The arrow keys are not working after we are adding a new set. The only way to resolve it, is to refresh the page. We are on the 6.5.0 version.

I can confirm. After adding a set in a Bard-field the up/down arrow keys no longer works.
