Your First Dive

Let's log your first dive in Submersion! This quick tutorial will get you familiar with the basics.

Step 1: Create Your Diver Profile

When you first launch Submersion, you'll be asked to create a diver profile.

  1. Enter your name
  2. Optionally add your email and phone
  3. Tap Create Profile
Tip: You can add more details to your profile later, including emergency contacts, medical info, and insurance details.

Step 2: Open the Dive Log

After creating your profile, you'll land on the Dives tab - your main dive log.

Tap the + Log Dive button (floating action button) to create a new dive.

Step 3: Enter Basic Dive Info

The dive entry form has several sections. For your first dive, focus on the basics:

Required Fields

Field What to Enter
Date & Time When the dive started
Max Depth Your maximum depth (in meters or feet)
Duration Bottom time in minutes

Recommended Fields

Field Purpose
Dive Site Select or create a site
Water Temperature For your records and stats
Visibility Excellent, Good, Moderate, Poor

Step 4: Select or Create a Dive Site

Tap the Dive Site field to select a location:

  1. If you have no sites yet, tap + Add New Site
  2. Enter the site name (e.g., "Blue Corner, Palau")
  3. Optionally set the country and region
  4. Tap Save
Tip: You can also tap "Use My Location" to capture GPS coordinates from your current position.

Step 5: Add Tank Information

Scroll down to the Tanks section:

  1. Tap Add Tank (or edit the default tank)
  2. Set volume (e.g., 12L or 80 cu ft)
  3. Enter start pressure and end pressure
  4. If diving nitrox, adjust the O2% (default is 21% for air)

Step 6: Add Notes (Optional)

Scroll to the Notes section to add any observations:

  • Marine life you saw
  • Conditions you experienced
  • Memorable moments
  • Things to remember for next time

Step 7: Save Your Dive

Tap Save in the top right corner.

Your dive is now logged!

Multi-Diver Support

If you share a device with another diver, you can create multiple profiles:

  1. Go to Settings > Divers
  2. Tap + Add Diver
  3. Switch between profiles from the same menu

Each diver has their own separate dive log, sites, and gear.
