What's new

  • Instructions and groups from agents. When an agent creates or changes a credential, it can also write the usage instructions other agents will follow and put the credential in a group. A group that doesn't exist yet is created when you approve.
  • Organize in one approval. An agent can move credentials and create, rename or delete groups in one batch of up to 64 steps. You approve it once, with one Touch ID, and it applies completely or not at all. Deleting a group never deletes credentials.
  • Approvals that read at a glance. Every write approval now looks like the read approval: one sentence that says who wants to do what, plus one line about the consequence. Everything else is under Details. Irreversible changes, such as replacing a value, use a destructive button.
  • 请旨 on Chinese systems. Finder, Spotlight and system prompts show the app as 请旨 when Chinese is your first language.
  • A direct download link. releases/latest/download/AskKey.dmg always gets the newest version.

Upgrading from 0.2.0

Quit Ask Key from the menu bar, drag the new Ask Key from the DMG into Applications, and choose Replace. Your credentials stay where they are. Scripts that parse list_credentials should note that it now returns {credentials, groups} instead of a bare list.

Install

  1. Download AskKey.dmg below. To verify it, also download AskKey.dmg.sha256 and run shasum -a 256 -c AskKey.dmg.sha256.
  2. Open the DMG and drag Ask Key into Applications. Keep its name and location, or agents cannot connect.
  3. Open Ask Key and follow the welcome page.

Good to know

  • There is still no backup. Keep the originals of your credentials somewhere else.
  • No automatic update; new versions are published here. Requires macOS 14 or later.
  • Once you approve a program, Ask Key cannot control what that program does with the value.

  • Agent 可以写说明、分组。 Agent 新建或修改凭证时，可以顺带写上给其他 Agent 看的使用说明，并把凭证放进某个分组。分组还不存在的话，你批准后会自动新建。
  • 一次审批整理分组。 Agent 可以一次提交最多 64 步的整理：移动凭证，新建、改名或删除分组。你只批准一次、按一次指纹，整批要么全部生效，要么完全不动。删除分组不会删除里面的凭证。
  • 审批卡片一眼就能看懂。 所有写入类审批都和读取审批同一个样子：一句话说明谁要做什么，再加一行说明后果，其余都收在“详细信息”里。替换值这类无法撤销的操作，按钮会用醒目的颜色。
  • 中文系统里叫“请旨”。 系统语言是中文时，Finder、聚焦搜索和系统弹框里都显示“请旨”。
  • 固定下载地址。 releases/latest/download/AskKey.dmg 永远指向最新版本。

从 0.2.0 升级

在菜单栏退出请旨，把 DMG 里新的“Ask Key”拖进“应用程序”，选择“替换”。你的凭证不会受影响。如果有脚本在解析 list_credentials 的输出，请注意它现在返回 {credentials, groups}，不再是单纯的列表。

安装

  1. 下载下面的 AskKey.dmg。如需校验，同时下载 AskKey.dmg.sha256，运行 shasum -a 256 -c AskKey.dmg.sha256。
  2. 打开 DMG，把“Ask Key”拖进“应用程序”。不要改名，也不要换位置，否则 Agent 连不上。
