Map Depot downloads map data from inside ATAK: elevation, streaming base maps and overlays, offline public-lands and ranger-district maps, incident maps, Beacon Box pre-plans, and now post-disaster aerial imagery.
New in 1.12 and 1.13
Disaster Aerials. After a hurricane makes landfall, and after some floods, fires and tornadoes, the damaged area gets flown and the imagery is public within a day or two. Map Depot lists three sources in one list, this year and last, newest first:
- NOAA's National Geodetic Survey aerial flights, 15 to 30 cm a pixel
- Civil Air Patrol flights for FEMA
- Maxar Open Data satellite releases for major US events, with the cloud cover on the row
Each flight is an overlay that draws over whatever map you have. Add Online streams it as you pan; Download keeps an offline copy on the phone for when there is no signal, built at the flight's own detail and kept under about 500 MB. Outlines On draws an orange box with the flight's name around every flight on the phone. Hide and Show on every row.
Overlays that overlay. Streaming overlays (roads and labels, contour lines, flood zones, radar) now switch on over the map you already have instead of replacing it, draw over disaster aerials too, and carry Hide and Show on the row. The overlay list is sectioned, roads first. Three sources by Joseph Elfelt (mappingsupport.com) join the catalog.
1.13 adds pictures from the signed build to the guide and manual and reshapes one internal check; nothing changes in what the plugin does.
