1. Initial Setup

Initial Bot Setup

Requirements:

  • Nodejs v8.9.1 or higher
  • MySQL Server Access or Local Server
  • Discord Account
  • Discord Server

Setup Steps:

  1. Create a Discord Bot Account, by selecting: "App Bot User" at https://discordapp.com/developers/applications/me

  2. Set environment variable "DISCORD_TOKEN" to the token found for your App Bot User. This is how the bot will authenticate/login as your App Bot User

  3. Set environment variable "SERVER_ID" to the ID of the main server for the bot. (Enable Developer Mode under User Settings->Appearance->Developer Mode, and then right click on server name and select Copy ID)

  4. Click the "Generate OAuth2 URL" and navigate to this URL in order to connect your bot user to a server you own (or check "Public Bot" and then anyone can add the bot to their server)

  5. Ensure node dependencies are met with (run first line as admin, and second line inside the project folder)

  2. Start the app with

node app.js
