EasyConvert 1.0.0

First release. A native macOS conversion utility for images, video, and audio: GPU-accelerated
where Apple's frameworks support it, a bundled ffmpeg for everything else.

Images

  • PNG, JPEG, HEIC, TIFF, BMP, GIF, JPEG 2000, AVIF, ICO, TGA, WebP, PSD, ICNS, OpenEXR,
    Radiance HDR, PNM, QOI, and JPEG XL
  • Camera RAW (CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, DNG, ORF, RW2, RAF, PEF, and most others Apple's built-in
    RAW pipeline supports) via CIRAWFilter
  • SVG and PDF rasterization (PDF exports one image per page)
  • Compress to a target size (e.g. 25MB): searches quality or resolution to fit
  • Resize, including multi-resolution export in one pass (1024, 512, 256 produces three
    suffixed files)
  • Custom output filenames, "keep original format" (recompress without converting)

Video

  • Hardware-encoded MP4/MOV (H.264, HEVC, ProRes 422) via AVFoundation/VideoToolbox
  • MKV, WebM, AVI, FLV, MPEG, TS/MTS/M2TS, 3GP, ASF/WMV, MXF, VOB, DV, NUT, AV1, DNxHD, and
    DNxHR via ffmpeg
  • Target-size compression (estimated single-pass bitrate), resize, multi-resolution export,
    "keep original container"

Audio

  • MP3, AAC, M4A, WAV, FLAC, ALAC, AIFF, OGG, Opus, WMA, AC3, E-AC3, CAF
  • Target-size compression (bitrate for lossy formats, sample-rate reduction for PCM/lossless)

Everywhere

  • A max-file-size guard with a clear warning instead of silently choking on huge files
  • Formats that can't actually be produced on your machine (e.g. this build's ffmpeg has no
    OGV or AMR encoder) show as unavailable with a real reason, not a silent failure
  • Destination folder shown directly in the toolbar, not buried in a status line
  • Benchmark tab: times real conversions on your machine and scores them 0-100 against a
    calibrated baseline, so results are comparable across runs and machines

Licensing note

The app's own code is GPL-3.0. The bundled ffmpeg is also GPL (built with libx264/libx265);
the bundled WebP and JPEG XL tools are BSD. See Vendor/ffmpeg/LICENSE_NOTICE.md for details.

Known limitations

  • DDS export is disabled: macOS's own image writer produces empty files for it on this
    system, so rather than ship a silently-broken option, it's marked unavailable
  • OGV and AMR encoding depend on how this ffmpeg build was compiled; they may show
    unavailable depending on your build
  • Target-size bitrate for video/audio is a single-pass estimate, not an exact guarantee
