SourceVR 0.1.23

  • Added an optional Portal Gun for Half-Life 2 and the episodes, available in VR Advanced settings when Portal content is installed (Currently pretty broken and can cause rendering issues). Disabled by default.
  • Updated the default Gordon body with the HLA/JQuary model and improved walking animations, hand posing, wrists, sleeves, armor, and collar coverage. Fixed body distortion, ladder spasms, reload arm snapping, and brief leg flashes in Portal.
  • Improved Half-Life 2 co-op.
  • Fixed Portal 1 chamber 10 and 12 panels failing to react to headset gaze, and added surface-aligned portal-placement reticles.
  • Improved Portal 2 traversal and puzzles: corrected portal-exit momentum, kept carried cubes attached during Faith Plate launches, improved Wheatley carrying in the wakeup capsule, fixed Frankenturret dispensers, and restored gel coverage on moving brush surfaces.
  • Fixed missing Portal 2 dialogue captions and the stray weapon-pickup “C” indicator. Corrected projected-light sequencing, sliding wall-light strips, and the washed-out Portal Gun reflection near the GLaDOS wakeup socket. Added a light-flicker strength setting for comfort.
  • Improved rendering stability, including portal-view and particle-rendering crash fixes, support for compressed static geometry in dynamic draws, more reliable pickup highlights, and thinner default highlight outlines. Removed blocking GPU visibility-query waits that could cause hitches.
  • Fixed recoverable Android “Not Responding” prompts during loading and runaway graphics-memory use when transitioning between maps with different HDR settings.
  • Fixed NPCs displaying first-person weapon models, destroyed ground turrets leaving raised bodies behind, and buggy boost remaining requested after releasing the stick click or entering a vehicle.
  • Improved bHaptics impact timing and feedback for armor-only and fractional damage, and corrected PICO controller/optional hand-tracking declarations.

SourceVR 0.1.22

  • Fixed the flashlight causing the skybox to overwrite walls and other geometry in Ravenholm and other dark areas.
  • Added preliminary Half-Life 2 20th Anniversary Edition support, including the updated shaders and coastal atmospheric fog, while retaining steam_legacy support. Fixed disappearing staircases, water reflections, fog, beams, and grab highlights. This is untested and may lead to rendering bugs.
  • Fixed campaign and physics blockers across Half-Life 2 and Portal 2, including the GLaDOS breaker-socket finale trigger, lost portal fling momentum, gel stopping at grates, Wheatley freezing during carry sequences, and Citadel weapon-confiscation freezes and crashes.
  • Improved weapons and combat feedback with pistol shell ejection, dynamic blue and red Portal Gun placement dots, steadier laser sights, higher sniper and barnacle damage on harder difficulties, and an optional friendly-fire setting that also covers Gravity Gun punts.
  • Overhauled VR movement and player bodies so Gordon's body follows walking and turning more naturally. Added custom full-body model support and controls for headset brightness, arm stretch, wrist HUD size, smooth stairs in Portal, and over-the-shoulder quick reloads.
  • Improved platform support, modding, and installation: restored PICO 4 Ultra controller support, added zero-copy headset imports with rollback, improved custom-content loading, and updated the PC installer to detect both supported Steam branches automatically.

adb install -r SourceVRPort-hl2Episodes-0.1.17.apk

Players still using the separate Episode One or Episode Two apps from 0.1.13 or earlier
should follow the save-transfer instructions in the README
before installing the unified app. Do not uninstall an old episode app before transferring
its saves.

The APK does not include the retail depots needed to play. You supply your own copy from a
Steam install on the steam_legacy branch (PatchVersion 8491853).

@tinsarfal tinsarfal released this 21 Aug 08:41

Native VR ports of Half-Life 2, Episode One, and Episode Two for standalone
Meta Quest headsets. Developed and tested on Quest 3.

0.1.14 combines all three games in one SourceVRPort launcher. Fresh installs need only
the main APK. The two small transfer APKs are one-time APKs for players updating from
the separate Episode One and Episode Two apps released in 0.1.13 and earlier.

Download Package Purpose
SourceVRPort-hl2Episodes-0.1.14.apk com.sourcevrport.hl2vr Half-Life 2, Episode One, and Episode Two
SourceVRPort-save-transfer-ep1-0.1.14.apk com.sourcevrport.ep1vr Transfers saves and settings from the old Episode One app
SourceVRPort-save-transfer-ep2-0.1.14.apk com.sourcevrport.ep2vr Transfers saves and settings from the old Episode Two app

Existing Episode One or Episode Two players: do not uninstall the old episode apps.
Uninstalling first deletes the only copy of their app-owned saves that Android lets the
transfer tools read.

For each old episode app you have installed, update it with the matching transfer APK:

adb install -r SourceVRPort-save-transfer-ep1-0.1.14.apk
adb install -r SourceVRPort-save-transfer-ep2-0.1.14.apk

Open each installed transfer tool from Library → Unknown Sources, grant its requested
file access, and choose Copy and verify user data. Only after every applicable transfer
reports success should you install the unified app:

adb install -r SourceVRPort-hl2Episodes-0.1.14.apk

If Android reports INSTALL_FAILED_UPDATE_INCOMPATIBLE, stop and make a backup; do not
uninstall the old app as a workaround. After installing the unified app, launch each episode
and confirm its saves before removing a transfer app.

The APK does not include the retail depots needed to play. You supply your own copy from a
Steam install on the steam_legacy branch (PatchVersion 8491853). Episode One also
needs Half-Life 2's content, and Episode Two needs both. See the
README for the full requirements and import instructions.

What's new

  • Half-Life 2 and both Episodes now launch from one SourceVRPort app.
  • Added one-time APKs for transferring existing Episode One and Episode Two saves and settings.
  • Added optional dual wielding with separate weapon selection, firing, reloading, and ammo displays.
  • Added fist and held-weapon melee attacks.
  • Added a launcher mod manager for enabling and disabling installed mods.
