Which file do I want?

  • If you can connect your handheld to the Internet: the only file you need is the PocketCurator.Installer.sh listed below. Place it in your roms/ports folder and run it from within Emulation Station's Ports games list. Pocket Curator's installer will connect here and download and install the package for you. (see the repo page's README for more on how to install)
  • If you canNOT connect your device to the Internet: you want the .zip file below. The PocketCurator.Installer.sh will NOT work without an Internet connection. To install without Internet, unzip the .zip file to your roms/ports folder on your SD card. (see the repo page's README for more on how to install)
  • If you have a previous version of Pocket Curator installed, delete it (both the Pocket Curator.sh file and the pocketcurator folder from your roms/ports folder on your SD card)
  • Ignore the "Source code" links below, unless you like reading code.

What's new

This release simplifies the install process and adds an updater to Pocket Curator.

  • One-file installer. One small file in your ports folder, one launch, done — it fetches the latest release over WiFi, verifies it, installs it, and refreshes EmulationStation so Pocket Curator shows up immediately, icon and all. It always installs the latest release, so a copy you downloaded months ago still installs the current version. Re-running it repairs an install without touching your settings.
  • Built-in updates. Settings → Check for updates finds new releases, downloads with a live progress display, verifies the download (SHA256 and zip integrity), and installs itself on the next launch — your settings always survive. Designed to be power-cut-safe: an interrupted update simply resumes its install on the following launch. Releases now ship a .sha256 checksum that the installer and updater verify downloads against.

Both features require an Internet connection! Both features require your device's clock to be set properly.
