Which file do I want?
- If you CAN connect your handheld to the Internet: the only file you need is the
PocketCurator.Installer.shlisted below. Place it in your roms/ports folder and run it from within Emulation Station's Ports games list. Pocket Curator's installer will connect here and download and install the package for you. (see the repo page's README for more on how to install) - If you CANNOT connect your device to the Internet: you want the .zip file below. The
PocketCurator.Installer.shwill NOT work without an Internet connection. To install without Internet, unzip the .zip file to your roms/ports folder on your SD card. (see the repo page's README for more on how to install) - If you have Pocket Curator v0.62.0 or v0.62.1 installed: just open Settings -> Check For Updates inside Pocket Curator.
- If you have a version previous to v0.62.0 installed: delete it! (Delete
Pocket Curator.sh,PocketCuratorMetadataInstall.sh, and thepocketcuratorfolder from your roms/ports folder on your SD card) - Ignore the "Source code" links below, unless you like reading code.
What's new since v1.0.0
FEATURES:
Fetching / copying
- Region-aware destinations — copied games land in the folder your device actually uses for that console (genesis or megadrive, tg16 or pcengine, etc.), decided by what's already there or your region. Folder names with spaces, hyphens, or underscores now match too.
- Fresh-device path — a system with no games appears the instant you copy games into it, no restart, so a handheld with zero ROMs can connect to WebDAV and pull its first games.
- Select All — the Start button marks or clears every game in the list, on both the delete and fetch screens.
- Live transfer rate + a progress strip that follows you — progress bar for the fetch process at the bottom of the screen persists, transfer speed shows on the status line
Updates / install
- Dual-channel update picker — Check For Updates looks at both stable and pre-release and lets you pick which to install; Press Y to install pre-releases, Press A to install stable.
- Installer ships with every release and installs the newest of either channel
UI / personalization
- Restyle and re-order the button hints / help text.
- Font Color, Highlight Color, and Swap Games List Side — color swatches plus a left/right layout mirror.
- Missing-ROM report — opening a system whose gamelist.xml lists ROMs that aren't on the card now tells you and points you to EmulationStation's "Clean Gamelist & Remove Unused Media" function to clean it up.
- Refreshed splash, screenshots, and preview video.
BUG FIXES:
Fetching from WebDAV
- Fixed a problem with dArkOS and confusion between SNES and SuperFami routing to the wrong folder.
- When no fetch destination can be worked out automatically, you are asked to pick a folder under roms/ instead of the copy being refused.
- More reliable EmulationStation config discovery on Batocera / Knulli.
Deletion & the gamelist
- Deleting a ROM now also prunes its gamelist.xml entry — previously the entry lingered and the system's count read too high.
- Batch delete shows live progress, and a game that fails to delete stays listed and is reported instead of silently vanishing and reappearing on next launch.
- Gamelist entries are written tab-indented like ES, not as one unreadable line.
Counts & paging
- System game counts refresh after deletes/copies, and wait for delele/fetch operations to complete.
- L1/R1 paging no longer jumps too far — it uses the real number of visible rows — and the highlight lands at the leading edge of travel.
Input & display
- Fixed doubled controller input on Knulli, dArkOS, and Batocera.
- Network lookups resolve IPv4-only, ending a ~15s stall on some firmwares.
- The on-screen keyboard now wraps around.
Fetch reliability (earlier in the line)
- Critical: fetched games were landing in Pocket Curator's own folder on Batocera/Knulli — now resolved to the correct absolute roms folder.
- Ghost and phantom systems (Batocera stock entries with no ROMs, single-game port "systems") no longer show as separate systems.
- Theme logos matched to what your ES actually shows (not perfect, but liveable).
- Runaway auto-scaling font fixed; fetch preview clipping fixed.
Smaller fixes
- Empty fresh device: Y now opens the WebDAV flow even with no systems installed.
- Quit screen tells you when ES will refresh after exit.
- Marked and already-present rows stay dimmed even under the selection cursor, and a delete mark shows a red X.
- Restored Status dialog rows, fixed fetch-description scroll clipping, dArkOS exit garbage text, and double EmulationStation refresh.
