TapeBrowser 0.13.0
New in 0.13.0: a safety check for DeWEB sites, local preview for site builders, and a plainer look.
- Safety check: in the site info panel, click Run check. TapeBrowser reads every file of the site and analyzes it on this machine: the wallet actions it may ask for (approvals, unlimited approvals, Permit, Seaport listings,
eth_sign) with file and line, whether hard-coded addresses are contracts or regular wallets, and malicious patterns such as asking for a recovery phrase, drainer kits that look up all your assets before approving, reporting to Telegram bots or Discord webhooks, overriding the wallet's request method, and loading code from external URLs. Nothing is uploaded. The rules were tuned against all 85 sites in the directory. It's a static check, so "nothing found" doesn't prove a site is safe. - Local preview and pre-publish check: File → Preview Local Folder (⌘O) opens a folder as
tape://local-…/with the same rules as on-chain sites, and reloads when files change. The panel lists problems before upload: missingindex.html, files over 350 chunks, missing references, external scripts, title, logo/cover size, deweb.json, and how many transactions the upload takes. - Unverified sites: plain http/https pages show a grey Unverified button left of the address bar, and wallet connect and signing dialogs note that the content isn't on chain.
deweb.json: the file site owners use to set a category is renamed fromweb.jsontodeweb.json.- Plainer look: the new tab page, product site and share link page use a warm off-white background, white cards and thin borders, without gradients or shadows.
