Repository navigation
Earlier release guide
These notes preserve the Wiki guidance written before Timekeeper 2.0. They do not describe the 2.0 database, native task editor or optional Mylyn integration. For current instructions, use the 2.0 user guide. There is no supported migration from earlier storage into 2.0.
There is built in support for GitHub, JIRA and Bugzilla task repositories, however other repository types should also work. Tasks from GitHub are grouped by the name of the first query they appear in. Tasks from Bugzilla repositories are grouped by the product. When for instance using a JIRA repository you may want to group by a different field, this can be done by right clicking on a task and selecting a field from the Set Grouping Field... menu.
Note that the timekeeping data are stored in the task repository so they follow your workspace. If the workspace is lost, so is the timekeeping data.
If you have an active task and go idle, not touching the mouse or keyboard for more than given amount of time (default is five minutes), the Eclipse Timekeeper will start tracking idle time. If activity is detected before the away time (default is thirty minutes) a dialog will be displayed where you can choose whether or not to subtract the idle time. Answer Yes and the time idle will not be added to the total. No will perform no action, so the idle time will be added to the total. If no activity is detected after the away time, the entire period idle will be subtracted. Note that the idle tracker is system wide, so activity in any application will not trigger the idle timer. The "idle" and "away" periods can be adjusted using preference settings.
