RimDroid 0.1.7 β€” Beta

⚠️ This is a beta. RimWorld runs well on some devices (mostly recent, powerful Snapdragon/Adreno and some Dimensity/Mali phones) and not yet on others. We're working day and night to widen the list of supported devices β€” this release is a checkpoint, not the finish line.

βœ… Device compatibility (so far β€” it's device-by-device, not by GPU brand)
Compatibility right now depends on the specific phone (GPU + driver + kernel), not just "Adreno vs Mali" β€” some Mali phones run great, others don't yet. We're still mapping it out, so treat this as a living list.

Works:

  • Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra (Adreno 830)
  • Lenovo Legion Y700 (Adreno 730)
  • Realme P4x (Mali)

Loads, but hits the colonists/crash bug (a reboot often helps β€” see below):

  • Poco X7 (Mali) β€” loads, but colonists can come up missing
  • Poco F5 (Adreno) β€” boots now (startup black screen fixed), but can still crash

Doesn't start yet:

  • Infinix Note 50s 5G (Mali-G615) and similar β€” need the software renderer we're still building

πŸ†• What's new in 0.1.7 (beta)

βœ… Physical gamepad support β€” sticks, buttons, triggers, with auto-hide of the
on-screen controls when a controller connects, plus a button remapper for
controllers with swapped buttons.
βœ… Display resolution fix β€” no more tiny / doubled / stretched picture on some devices.
βœ… Haptic feedback β€” buttons can vibrate now; per-instance on/off toggle.
βœ… Hide/show controls β€” a "V" button to toggle the on-screen overlay on the fly.
βœ… Steadier on low-RAM phones β€” the game's memory now scales to your device, cutting
out-of-memory crashes on weaker hardware.
(Plus everything from earlier: mods via Harmony 2.2.2, on-screen controls editor,
Steam in-app downloads, per-instance settings.)

πŸ”„ Temporary workaround for some issues, like missing colonists
Several of these problems depend on how the phone's memory happens to be laid out at launch, and a phone restart reshuffles it. If the game crashes or colonists go missing:

  • Restart your phone, then launch again. Maybe the save was corrupted - make a new save.
  • If it still fails, restart once more (a second reboot sometimes does it).
It's a dice-roll, not a cure β€” but it often lands the game in a working state.

πŸ› οΈ What we're working on next

  • Fixing the core emulation bug behind the crashes & save corruption (the #1 issue above).
  • In-game sound.

πŸ™ Help us
If the game doesn't work for you, please turn on Debug, reproduce, then Export logs and send them to 210478@mail.ru β€” your logs are exactly how we widen device support. Tell us your phone model + GPU.

⚠️ Reminder
Rimdroid is only a launcher.
To run the game, you still need the actual game files (Linux version), which you must obtain yourself - for example, by purchasing the game on Steam/GOG.
