Release list
π’ Version v0.2.2 - Newer Harmony mods support, FPS improved and cropped screen fixed!
RimDroid 0.2.2 (beta)
π‘ For the best fps performance, we recommend a fresh install this time (uninstall the previous version first) β updating in place should still work, but a clean install avoids leftover files from older versions.
β οΈ RimDroid is a beta and under active development. Things will break, devices differ wildly, and not everything works everywhere yet. We're improving it release by release.
π Thank you to all testers!
π What's new
Main features
β Fixed cropped screen on cutout devices β the game window could be squeezed inside the camera-cutout safe area on some phones, clipping the picture on both sides. Now the game always claims the full screen.
β New option: mirrored landscape β for gamepad cradles that hold the phone in the opposite orientation. Still a single fixed orientation, just flipped 180Β°. Per-instance toggle in Settings.
β Fixed some GOG repacks failing to load β a few community repacks were missing some game files; the installer now detects and reports this instead of silently producing a broken install.
β Stock Harmony now works β mods using recent Harmony versions (2.3+) previously failed to patch anything under emulation. Fixed at the root; you no longer need a special downgraded Harmony build for mods to work.
β Performance improvements β a batch of fixes under the hood (emulator stability, library handling) that should give a noticeable FPS boost for a lot of devices, especially non-Adreno GPUs.
Also in the app:
CJK fonts (Chinese / Japanese / Korean) - special RimDroidCJK mod.
βοΈ You can support my work on Buymeacoffee
Sα΄Κsα΄ΚΙͺΚα΄ If you want to stay up to date with changes, tips, and useful tweaks, feel free to join our RimDroid X - or Reddit.
Rimdroid is only a launcher.
To run the game, you still need the actual game files (Linux version), which you must obtain yourself - for example, by purchasing the game on Steam/GOG.
π’ Version v0.2.1 - RimWorld 1.6 support, Saves fixed and Game sound fixed!
RimDroid 0.2.1 (beta)
UPDATE: better FPS 0.2.1v6 added.
π‘ For the best experience, we recommend a fresh install this time (uninstall the previous version first) β updating in place should still work, but a clean install avoids leftover files from older versions.
β οΈ RimDroid is a beta and under active development. Things will break, devices differ wildly, and not everything works everywhere yet. We're improving it release by release.
π Thank you to all testers!
π What's new
Main features
β RimWorld 1.6 support β menu, gameplay, saving, sound, all working.
β Saves fixed β the actual cause of pawn/colonist save corruption was found and fixed, instead of patching around it per game build. Saves should now be reliable on 1.5 and 1.6 alike, no mod or extra step required. Please disable the old SaveFixesMod if it was used.
β Game sound fixed β no more generating a sound pack or flipping an audio switch. Sound (including DLC and mod audio) plays correctly out of the box.
β
Install directly from a GOG installer β you can now add a zip that contains a GOG DRMβfree .sh installer.
β Under-the-hood performance & stability β fixed the root cause of a class of engine-level crashes (also responsible for the save corruption above), so the game no longer needs to run a reactive repair pass in the background β smoother, more stable emulation overall.
Also in the app:
- CJK fonts (Chinese / Japanese / Korean) - special RimDroidCJK mod.
- Steam in-app downloader
- Compatibility mod - turn it on if you can't launch the game in the regular way.
Special updated mod for RimDroid:
Sα΄Κsα΄ΚΙͺΚα΄ If you want to stay up to date with changes, tips, and useful tweaks, feel free to join our RimDroid X - or Reddit.
Rimdroid is only a launcher.
To run the game, you still need the actual game files (Linux version), which you must obtain yourself - for example, by purchasing the game on Steam/GOG.
π’ Version v0.1.9 - Saves fix, mods run on budget phones, resolution presets
RimDroid 0.1.9 (beta)
β οΈ RimDroid is a beta and under active development. Things will break, devices differ wildly, and not everything works everywhere yet. We're improving it release by release.
π Thank you to all testers!
π What's new
Main features
β Saves fixed - No more mods to fix saves. (Works on the build the app downloads and the most common others; if unsure, download the game via the app)
β FPS counter - Built into the instance settings
β Resolution presets - fastest / balanced / native
β Physical keyboard & mouse - plug in and play: move, click, scroll, WASD / arrows. (Typing text in-game comes later.)
Also in the app:
- CJK fonts (Chinese / Japanese / Korean) - special RimDroidCJK mod.
- Steam in-app downloader
- Compatibility mod - turn it on if you can't launch the game in the regular way.
Special updated mod for RimDroid:
Sα΄Κsα΄ΚΙͺΚα΄ If you want to stay up to date with changes, tips, and useful tweaks, feel free to join our RimDroid X - yes, we moved to X!
Rimdroid is only a launcher.
To run the game, you still need the actual game files (Linux version), which you must obtain yourself - for example, by purchasing the game on Steam/GOG.
π’ Version v0.1.8 - Sound, better FPS, compatibility mode
RimDroid 0.1.8 (beta)
β οΈ RimDroid is a beta and under active development. Things will break, devices differ wildly, and not everything works everywhere yet. We're improving it release by release.
π Thank you
This release exists because of you. To everyone who installed build after build, hit a black screen or a frozen menu, and still took the time to send us logs - thank you. Those logs are not noise; they are exactly what let us find and fix things we could never reproduce on our own devices.
In particular: the new Compatibility mode below was born directly from tester logs. For many people whose game previously showed only a black screen or hung forever on the loading menu, the game now starts. That's your work as much as ours. π
π What's new
Main features
β‘ Performance (FPS)
box64 now builds with -O1 optimizations. On a high-end device (Snapdragon 8 Elite / Adreno 830) we measured 10-20 FPS up from before. Gains vary by device.
π Game sound
RimDroid can now generate game audio on your device, from your own copy of RimWorld - sound effects, ambience, and clean menu music. Go to Settings β Sound β Install game sound, then use the Game sound toggle to turn it on or off.
Note: with sound on, the game takes a little longer to load.
π§ Compatibility mode
A new toggle under Settings β Advanced. If your game won't start (black screen, or stuck on the loading dots / menu), turn this on - it changes how the translator handles memory and floating-point so the game can boot on devices that otherwise couldn't.
It's a temporary workaround, not a full fix - it may not work on every device, or may work only partially. See Troubleshooting below.
Also in this release
- π CJK fonts (Chinese / Japanese / Korean) β see the dedicated note below.
- π₯ Steam in-app downloader β fixed connection drops during sign-in. Authorization used to fail when the connection was interrupted mid-login; that's now handled.
- π¨ Settings redesign β cleaner card layout (Video / Controls / Sound / Advanced).
π For Chinese / Japanese / Korean players
RimWorld has the Chinese, Japanese, and Korean translations built in - but the in-game text rendered blank, because the game doesn't ship the fonts for those languages.
Why? The PC version doesn't ship them either - on Windows it simply borrows the system fonts. Under RimDroid there is no such system-font path available to the game, so we provide the glyphs through a mod instead.
We built a companion font mod, RimDroidCJK, that adds the missing characters at runtime (it does not modify your game files). Install it separately and Chinese, Japanese, and Korean text will display correctly.
π Download: RimDroidCJK mod
Note: shared Han characters use the Simplified-Chinese glyph form, so a few Japanese characters look slightly "Chinese" β fully readable, just not typographically perfect per language.
π οΈ Troubleshooting
π Sound mod shows "incompatible" (red), or you hear screeching
Re-run Install game sound once more, then restart the game. This is a one-time RimWorld mod-list caching quirk; on the second pass it's picked up correctly.
πΎ Colonists disappearing from saves
As a temporary measure, install the RimDroidSaveFix mod β it works around a save-corruption bug we're still chasing at the emulator level. This is especially worth having if you play with Compatibility mode on. Depends on Harmony mod.

Thanks again for testing, reporting, and sticking with us. More fixes - including the deeper bug behind the save corruption β are in progress. π
π’ Version v0.1.7 - Gamepad support, haptic feedback buttons, better low-RAM support
RimDroid 0.1.7 β Beta
β
Device compatibility (so far β it's device-by-device, not by GPU brand)
Compatibility right now depends on the specific phone (GPU + driver + kernel), not just "Adreno vs Mali" β some Mali phones run great, others don't yet. We're still mapping it out, so treat this as a living list.
Works:
- Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra (Adreno 830)
- Lenovo Legion Y700 (Adreno 730)
- Realme P4x (Mali)
Loads, but hits the colonists/crash bug (a reboot often helps β see below):
- Poco X7 (Mali) β loads, but colonists can come up missing
- Poco F5 (Adreno) β boots now (startup black screen fixed), but can still crash
Doesn't start yet:
- Infinix Note 50s 5G (Mali-G615) and similar β need the software renderer we're still building
π What's new in 0.1.7 (beta)
β
Physical gamepad support β sticks, buttons, triggers, with auto-hide of the
on-screen controls when a controller connects, plus a button remapper for
controllers with swapped buttons.
β
Display resolution fix β no more tiny / doubled / stretched picture on some devices.
β
Haptic feedback β buttons can vibrate now; per-instance on/off toggle.
β
Hide/show controls β a "V" button to toggle the on-screen overlay on the fly.
β
Steadier on low-RAM phones β the game's memory now scales to your device, cutting
out-of-memory crashes on weaker hardware.
(Plus everything from earlier: mods via Harmony 2.2.2, on-screen controls editor,
Steam in-app downloads, per-instance settings.)
π Temporary workaround for some issues, like missing colonists
Several of these problems depend on how the phone's memory happens to be laid out at launch, and a phone restart reshuffles it. If the game crashes or colonists go missing:
- Restart your phone, then launch again. Maybe the save was corrupted - make a new save.
- If it still fails, restart once more (a second reboot sometimes does it).
It's a dice-roll, not a cure β but it often lands the game in a working state.
π οΈ What we're working on next
- Fixing the core emulation bug behind the crashes & save corruption (the #1 issue above).
- In-game sound.
π Help us
If the game doesn't work for you, please turn on Debug, reproduce, then Export logs and send them to 210478@mail.ru β your logs are exactly how we widen device support. Tell us your phone model + GPU.

π’ Version v0.1.5 - In-app downloads, new look, recommended driver
RimDroid v0.1.5
β¨ New
In-app Steam downloads β get the game, DLC, and Workshop mods straight from Steam inside the launcher (no Termux). Sign in with your own Steam account (approve on the Steam Mobile app); mods can also be fetched without login via a browser handoff.
Instances as cards β each game install is its own card with its own Play button and a gear menu (Settings / Delete).
Per-instance settings β renderer, Vulkan driver, debug, and controls are now set per instance, so different colonies can run different setups.
Dedicated "Install mod / DLC" page β pick a ZIP, choose the instance, install (auto-strips wrapper folders).
Custom Vulkan driver import (menu β Custom Vulkan driver) β load your own Turnip/Vulkan driver (a .so or an AdrenoTools .zip).
"Recommended driver" + auto-detect β detects your GPU and picks the matching driver; new instances are auto-set to the recommended one.
Drag to pan the map with a finger (in addition to the on-screen camera stick).
New look β Material 3 theme, green/silver branding, night mode (System / Light / Dark), and instance/page artwork.
π Improved
More bundled Adreno drivers: Turnip for Adreno 8xx / 7xx / 6xx, including a legacy 6xx build for Snapdragon 685 / Adreno 610.
Logs now start with a launch-config header (renderer, driver, settings) so a shared log is self-describing.
Saves & control-layout export / import, plus export logs.
π§ͺ Experimental
MediaTek/Mali fix attempt β a memory-model change aimed at the save-corruption bug (vanishing colonists) and some crashes on MediaTek/Cortex devices. Unverified β please report whether saves keep your colonists.
Some weak/older GPUs (e.g. Mali-G57 / Helio G99) may still show a black screen.
No sound yet (FMOD); no on-screen keyboard; occasional black screen on launch (try a different driver).
UPDATE: A bug in this release caused a black or frozen screen. The issue has been fixed β the file has been updated. If you've dowloaded the buggy one, reinstall the app.
π’ Version v0.1.4 - System driver, import/export settings, saves and controls layout
RimDroid v0.1.4
What's new:
β
System driver (phone's) driver by default (works across GPUs)
β
New default layout
β
Import/Export controls layout
β
Smart Import/Export saves + settings
β
Export logs option for better debugging
β
No Android's status bar
β
Community / new-versions links in the menu (Reddit, GitHub releases)
β
Compatible with Biotech DLC - not fully tested. Just copy the Biotech folder manually into the Data folder of your instance.
Known bugs:
β
Saving/loading on Mali/MediaTek: a save currently loads without colonists
β
No sound
β
Occasional black screen / stuck loading on launch - kill + relaunch (usually works on the second try);

π’ Version v0.1.3 - Mods work, smart mod importer, editable HUD
RimDroid v0.1.3
Highlights
- 𧩠Mods work now! Harmony patching is functional β tested with Harmony, RimHUD, and Pick Up And Haul.
β οΈ Use Harmony 2.2.2, not the latest. The current Harmony (2.3.x) can't patch under emulation; 2.2.2 does. Install the recommended Harmony 2.2.2 (RimDroid) build instead of the Steam Workshop Harmony (don't install both β duplicate package id).
- π₯ Smart mod importer β menu β Import Mods (ZIP). Pick any mod zip; it finds the mod's root, unwraps extra/double folders, and installs it into the instance's
Mods. Supports multiple mods per zip. - ποΈ Editable on-screen controls β Settings β Edit on-screen controls: tap to select, drag to move, sliders for size and opacity, add/delete elements, and bind any button to a mouse action or key (Space, Esc, digits, letters, arrows, β¦).
Controls
- On-screen controls rewritten as a modular system (buttons, mouse-stick, camera/WASD-stick).
- Buttons are circular by default (more compact), switchable to rectangular.
- New buttons can be created and bound to any key/mouse action.
Graphics
- Vulkan driver picker now includes a System (phone driver) option (experimental) for non-Adreno GPUs.
Under the hood
- box64:
/proc/self/auxvnow reportsx86_64, so tools that detect the CPU arch from auxv (e.g. MonoMod/Harmony) see the emulated architecture correctly. - Removed leftover debug breadcrumb files (
init_called.txt/jni_called.txt).
Known limitations
- No sound yet.
- No on-screen keyboard yet (typing into name/search fields is limited).
- Occasional black screen on launch β close and relaunch.
- Tested on Snapdragon 8 Elite (Adreno 830); other GPUs may need a different driver from the picker.

β
Mods β added manually via Manage Storage into the Mods folder, no wrapper folders; only Harmony mod tested so far.
β
Graphics β ZINK_ZFA renderer, Vulkan driver picker (if the default doesn't boot, try another), render-scale slider for bigger UI.
β
Controls β RBC/LBC ( left/right click) buttons, mouse-stick, WASD-stick, pinch-zoom; HUD not customizable yet.
β
Known limitations β no sound, no on-screen keyboard, tested on Adreno 830 (Samsung S25 Ultra)
