π’ Version v0.2.3 - Steam Cloud cross-save, FPS limit and keyboard support.
RimDroid 0.2.3 (beta)
A quick note on expectations. Launching isn't the same as running smoothly. A big, mature colony with a dozen pawns, dozens of mods, and every DLC wants a flagship, ideally Snapdragon. A small one-pawn survival run can be fine even on a budget phone. It all comes down to your CPU (RimWorld + emulation) and your RAM.
π‘ Note: the first launch after updating takes longer than usual β RimDroid re-extracts its libraries once. That's expected, let it finish.
β οΈ RimDroid is a beta and under active development. Things will break, devices differ wildly, and not everything works everywhere yet. We're improving it release by release.
π Thank you to all testers!
π What's new
β
Steam Cloud saves β move saves between your PC and your phone through your own Steam account. Pull saves down, push them back up.

β
On-screen keyboard input for 1.6 β you can finally type into the game (naming colonies, saves, animals). Latin (English) letters only for now. Supported only on RimWorld 1.6
β
A keyboard toggle button (KB) was added to the default on-screen controls.
β
Frame rate limit β cap (limit) the game at 30 or 60 FPS (Settings β Frame rate). A steady 30 usually feels better than a jumpy 45, and it frees CPU for the simulation, which can raise the actual game speed on weaker devices.

β
Long-press on the object = right click β new tap gesture added.
β
Fixed 1280Γ720 mode β a real 720p picture (with black margins), instead of stretching to your screen. Fewest pixels drawn, so it's also the fastest option.

β
Bug report β one tap in the menu bundles your logs into an email draft.

β
Update notification β a dot appears in the menu when a newer version is out.
β
Background image in the controls editor β trace a screenshot while placing buttons.
Technical
- Steam download concurrency reduced (8 concurrent chunk downloads/decompressions β 4 downloads / 2 decompressions), plus largeHeap enabled β the old defaults could exhaust the Java heap on phones with a 256 MB memory cap mid-download, leaving a half-downloaded, unlaunchable game.
- Added NULL-resource guards in the graphics layer (libzfa) for weaker/older GPUs.
- Fixed the bundled guest library tripping Android's 16 KB page-alignment check.
Also in the app:
CJK fonts (Chinese / Japanese / Korean) - special RimDroidCJK mod.

Rimdroid is only a launcher.
To run the game, you still need the actual game files (Linux version), which you must obtain yourself - for example, by purchasing the game on Steam/GOG.
