PaperScrape v4.22 — Stable
v4.22
- The Cars slider now spreads the traffic instead of gambling with it. It used to keep or drop
each of the road's ten candidate cars independently, so a mid-range setting could land two
survivors bumper to bumper and read as a jam made of three cars. The slider is now an explicit
count: cars are added one at a time, always as far from each other as the road's slots allow,
alternating lanes, and turning the slider up only ever adds a car — it never reshuffles the ones
already driving. - The bottom of the Cars slider now means one car, not none. A single car passing now and then
is a scene; an empty road is a choice, and it belongs to the Cars visibility switch, which still
does exactly that. If you had the slider parked low, your road will look a little different
after this update — the same setting now picks its cars deliberately, and zero now keeps one
last car driving. That change is the point of the fix, so the update applies it rather than
freezing everyone's road the way it was. - A density change no longer resets the road. Cars that the new setting removes finish the pass
they are on and leave; cars it adds drive in from the edge. Nothing pops into or out of the
middle of the road, and nothing restarts. - Which lane the sporadic low-count car drives in depends on the theme, so every theme keeps its
own street rather than all of them sharing one. - The traffic can quiet down at night. Cars now have a Night density slider beside the Day
one, exactly like the people have: the road fills and empties across dusk and dawn on the same
light everything else follows, car by car and always off screen. If you never touch the new
slider, nights look exactly as they did before. - Shops and towers can keep opening hours. A new toggle under Cities (off by default — nothing
changes unless you turn it on) gives the commercial buildings a business day: outside it nobody
stands at their windows and the glass stays dark even at night, fading at the boundary on the
scene's own twilight. Houses are homes, not businesses — their evening windows stay lit. The
hours follow the scene's own clock, so a frozen time of day obeys them too, and closing past
midnight (09:00–02:00) works.
