PaperScrape v4.23 — Stable
v4.23
- The sun, the moon and the stars are redrawn. The sky's five bodies — the sun and its
sunburst, the four moon phases, and the Halloween pumpkin moon — were the last family still
drawn with a compass: smooth circles, even arcs, machine-perfect edges. They are cut with
scissors now, like everything else in the scene: faceted rims with a hand-cut wobble, terminators
that are cut rather than swept, and the paper's own cream instead of a gradient. Nothing moved —
the sun and the moon rise, cross and set exactly where they did. - The sunburst is a ring again. It used to be a band of rays overlapping the disc's own edge;
it is now a struck ring sitting clear of the sun, over a warm halo. At full opacity, so it reads
in daylight rather than only at dawn. - The pumpkin moon has its face back. Cut, not painted — the sky shows through the eyes, the
nose and the grin, the way the rest of the scene is cut. It is still only the Halloween theme's
moon and still tinted orange. - The "Realistic Moon Phases" switch no longer pretends. With Halloween on, the moon is a
carved lantern and is always full — that has always been true of what you see, but the switch
stayed live and did nothing. It is now shown off and locked, with a line saying why. Your own
setting is kept, not rewritten: turn Halloween off and the switch comes back exactly as you
left it, per theme. - The star sparkles are twice the size, and they are drawn for it. They were about ten pixels
across, which is not enough for a four-pointed star to be anything but a bright cross. They are
now twice that, on artwork redrawn with a waist wide enough to survive the reduction: four
unequal points, concave sides, a shape rather than a plus sign. The stars themselves have not
moved, there are no more of them, and the small point stars are exactly the size they were.
Nothing you have set changes. No setting was added, removed or renumbered, and no saved theme
is touched — including the moon-phase choice above, which is overridden while Halloween is on and
never overwritten. Every other difference in this release is in the artwork itself.
