git clone https://github.com/velteyn/OpenJyotish.git
cd OpenJyotish
./install.sh
./run.shThe installer auto-detects Python 3.11+, creates a venv, installs dependencies, downloads ephemeris data, and initializes the database.
git clone https://github.com/velteyn/OpenJyotish.git
cd OpenJyotish
install.bat
run.batDownload openjyotish-v1.1.0-windows.zip from Releases.
Extract, double-click OpenJyotish.bat. Everything included.
- Python 3.11+
- Swiss Ephemeris data (auto-downloaded by
install.sh) - 7 dependencies (auto-installed): PyQt6, pyswisseph, typer, rich, requests, prompt_toolkit, numpy
The jhcore/ephe/ directory contains Swiss Ephemeris .se1 files (~94MB).
These are NOT in the git repo. install.sh auto-downloads them from astro.com.
On Windows, download manually from https://www.astro.com/ftp/swisseph/ephe/.
