Pages Native 0.5.0
Pages Native 0.5.0 adds structured search, guided native models with typed table fields, reusable recipes, batch generation and complete history from the available recipe state. Native .pages remains the editing format; all document operations use Apple's public scripting API.
- 36 MCP tools and two Codex setup/use skills, with a bundled Node.js runtime requiring no user-side npm installation.
- Batch generation: preview all 1–10 records before creating sequential new outputs; per-item results, default stop-on-error, optional continuation after ordinary errors, and no automatic retries. Uncertain native state always stops.
- Recipe history: retain definitions and deduplicated opaque saved model copies, compare revisions, compose from a historical model and restore as a new current revision. Deleting the current recipe retains history. Pre-0.5 versions or model bytes that were already lost cannot be recovered.
- Typed model fields: explicit numbers, dates, formulas, literal strings and deliberate optional clears, with compatible native base formats preserved. Pages boolean/checkbox writes are rejected before mutation because the app coerces or rejects them.
- Stronger preview/revision checks: text/cell formatting, tables, objects and facing pages recheck exposed state before writing. Lightweight document discovery avoids unnecessary pagination.
Migration from 0.1: mutation tools now default to preview. Review the plan, then apply the identical request with mode:"apply" and its expected_revision. A preview does not perform the edit. Back up the complete recipe library, including its hidden history; older plugin versions must not modify a managed 0.5 library.
Validation: 70 portable tests passed; 76 native checks passed on one Mac with macOS 27.0.1, Pages 14.5 and Node.js 24.19.0. The actual installed MCP stdio server separately passed historical batch generation, restoration, currency/formulas, source preservation and saved reopen, with calculated totals 265 and 115. Native PDF/PNG output was visually inspected. Exact code fingerprints are in the verification documentation. Other Pages/macOS environments remain unverified.
Requirements: logged-in macOS desktop, Apple Pages, Node.js 22+ and Automation permission. No Accessibility, clipboard automation, private Pages parser or Word editing backend. Named paragraph styles cannot be assigned through the public API used here; font/size/color formatting is distinct, and semantic style preservation during model filling is not certified. Comments, tracked changes and chart series/type/title remain excluded. Native edits and batches are not transactions; inspect partial failures.

Pages Native 0.1.0 preview
Pages Native 0.1.0 is a free, MIT-licensed Codex plugin and MCP server for native Apple Pages documents on macOS. It uses Apple's scripting API and keeps .pages as the editing format.
This preview exposes 28 tools for documents and templates, guarded rich-text edits, existing placeholders, tables and formulas, objects, explicit native exports, opaque backups, and PDF/PNG previews. The Codex marketplace ZIP includes two setup/use skills. The standalone plugin ZIP and MCPB contain the bundled Node.js server; users do not need to run npm install.
Verification: 29 portable tests passed; the clean bundled MCP protocol discovered all 28 tools without runtime node_modules; 34 native acceptance checks passed on one Mac running macOS 27.0.1 and Pages 14.5. A synthetic native PDF/PNG preview was inspected visually. SHA-256 checksums accompany all release assets.
Requirements: macOS with a logged-in desktop session, Apple Pages, Node.js 22+, and Automation permission for the local MCP host. Other Pages/macOS versions are not yet verified. Pages 14.5 rejects changing placeholder script tags; existing tagged placeholders can be filled. Native chart series/type/title, comments, tracked changes, complete paragraph styles and full page setup are outside the public scripting API used here. Mutations are not transactional; inspect documents after a partial-write error or timeout.
