Pages Native 0.1.0 is a free, MIT-licensed Codex plugin and MCP server for native Apple Pages documents on macOS. It uses Apple's scripting API and keeps .pages as the editing format.

This preview exposes 28 tools for documents and templates, guarded rich-text edits, existing placeholders, tables and formulas, objects, explicit native exports, opaque backups, and PDF/PNG previews. The Codex marketplace ZIP includes two setup/use skills. The standalone plugin ZIP and MCPB contain the bundled Node.js server; users do not need to run npm install.

Verification: 29 portable tests passed; the clean bundled MCP protocol discovered all 28 tools without runtime node_modules; 34 native acceptance checks passed on one Mac running macOS 27.0.1 and Pages 14.5. A synthetic native PDF/PNG preview was inspected visually. SHA-256 checksums accompany all release assets.

Requirements: macOS with a logged-in desktop session, Apple Pages, Node.js 22+, and Automation permission for the local MCP host. Other Pages/macOS versions are not yet verified. Pages 14.5 rejects changing placeholder script tags; existing tagged placeholders can be filled. Native chart series/type/title, comments, tracked changes, complete paragraph styles and full page setup are outside the public scripting API used here. Mutations are not transactional; inspect documents after a partial-write error or timeout.
