Notchlight 1.3
What's new in 1.3
LockWidgets is now Notchlight, with a new icon, automatic updates and four new widgets.
- Location: a map of where you are, with the name of the place.
- Music Card: the song in a glass card, like the iPhone's lock screen. It appears only while music plays.
- Favourite Apps: your apps in a grid, or one or two at a time anywhere you like. Click one on the lock screen, unlock, and it opens.
- Recent Activity: how long you've spent in each app today, hour by hour. It never leaves your Mac.
- Automatic updates: Notchlight checks for a new version once a day and asks before installing it. Check any time from the menu bar.
- Dynamic Island: a lock while your Mac is locked that opens as you unlock, and a dot beside the notch while the microphone (yellow), camera (green) or screen recording (red) is in use.
- The charging alert now appears the moment you plug in.
Install
Download Notchlight-1.3.dmg, open it and drag Notchlight into Applications. Signed and notarized by Apple. Requires macOS 15 or later.
Or with Homebrew:
brew install --cask victorabuchi/tap/notchlight
Coming from LockWidgets? Quit it and move LockWidgets to the Bin first. Your widgets, settings and permissions carry over.
LockWidgets 1.2
What's new in 1.2
- Dynamic Island around the MacBook notch, like the iPhone's. The song that's playing shows beside the notch with its artwork and a live waveform; point at it for the Apple Music lyric, progress and controls, or click it to open Music.
- Notifications from every app drop down from the notch as they arrive (needs Full Disk Access; the Setup Guide links to it).
- Calls and meetings, including Zoom, Google Meet and Teams in your browser, with how long you've been on.
- Personal Hotspot, timers and alerts: the Pomodoro and Stopwatch, charging, AirPods, volume, brightness, Focus and upcoming events. A second live activity waits in its own circle on the right.
- The island also shows on the lock screen, and stays hidden on Macs without a notch until something is live.
