VeloSim is a free and open-source network simulation platform. It does not expect to generate any money. Its primary goal is to provide the Road Operations team a new way to test and compare task dispatching strategies on a controlled simulation environment without affecting the live network. In addition, it could later be used for training safely new dispatch members. This would allow organizations to test out new innovative strategies while optimizing resource allocation and performance under realistic conditions in any given scenario.

While VeloSim itself does not generate any profit, its use can lead to significant economic benefits for organizations that use the simulation, such as BIXI. By enabling the testing and optimization of dispatch algorithms, VeloSim can help improve the efficiency and volume of serviced tasks, potentially leading to higher user satisfaction and an increase in customers, which would generate more revenue. Furthermore, optimized task allocation achieved through testing different algorithms in VeloSim may reduce the need for as many field agents, lowering operational costs while maintaining or enhancing service quality.
