Sequence of actions:
- Install Violentmonkey from the Chrome Web Store (MV3 version)
- Install Image Max Url (https://github.com/qsniyg/maxurl/blob/master/userscript.user.js?raw=true)
- Use the browser as usual and notice microfreezes
Problem:
Microfreezes occur when using the MV3 version of Violentmonkey with the Image Max Url userscript on a high-end PC. The problem goes away when I install the MV2 version of Violentmonkey instead. You can notice the microfreezes for example when opening a page and during the tab loading animation.
When the Image Max Url userscript is disabled, Violentmonkey MV3 does not cause any freezes. I suspect this is because the MV3 version is less efficient, especially with large userscripts like this one.
Context
It took me a couple of days to figure out that Violentmonkey was the cause — I didn't even suspect it at first 😭
Expected result:
No microfreezes
