@viraatdas viraatdas released this 17 Jul 19:02

i2Message 0.1.8

This release fixes thread avatars and keeps conversation navigation responsive while local search indexes rebuild.

  • Shows the current user's macOS Me-card photo for outgoing thread replies.
  • Replaces ambiguous question-mark avatars with a neutral person fallback.
  • Uses the same sender avatar in reply chips and the expanded thread panel.
  • Isolates background indexing from interactive Messages database reads.
  • Runs indexing at background priority and reduces progress-driven UI refreshes.
  • Caches decoded contact photos to remove repeated image decoding while scrolling.

@viraatdas viraatdas released this 17 Jul 00:40

i2Message 0.1.7

This release makes sent-message editing clearer, faster, and more native.

  • Redesigns the edit sheet around the original message and its replacement.
  • Adds focused, empty, unchanged, ready, and expired interaction states.
  • Shows a live edit-window countdown and the number of edits remaining.
  • Explains the secure Messages handoff as a compact three-step sequence.
  • Uses Command-Return to continue so Return remains available for multiline edits.
  • Improves VoiceOver labels, keyboard hints, loading feedback, and light/dark appearance.

@viraatdas viraatdas released this 17 Jul 00:03

i2Message 0.1.6

This release adds a safe sent-message text editing workflow.

  • Adds Edit Text… to the action pill for outgoing text messages.
  • Provides a focused replacement-text editor with unchanged/empty validation.
  • Enforces Apple's supported-conversation, five-edits, 15-minute rules for live messages, including mixed-protocol groups with an iMessage participant.
  • Copies live replacement text and opens Messages.app with explicit native completion steps; i2Message never writes private Messages storage.
  • Updates fixture messages locally and preserves their previous text in edit history.
  • Adds regression coverage for local edits, unsupported messages, edit limits, and the live paste/open handoff.

i2Message 0.1.5

@viraatdas viraatdas released this 16 Jul 23:22

i2Message 0.1.5

This release repairs stale contact metadata in local search results.

  • Refreshes message and attachment search records when conversation titles, sender names, handles, services, or contact IDs change.
  • Forces one safe, resumable index-format upgrade so records created before Contacts access are corrected.
  • Restarts background indexing immediately after Contacts or Full Disk Access becomes available.
  • Preserves incremental indexing and existing semantic embeddings when the indexed data is unchanged.

@viraatdas viraatdas released this 16 Jul 22:40

i2Message 0.1.4

This release makes the live app safe and usable as the everyday build.

  • Prevents fixture contacts and conversations from entering the live send path.
  • Resolves the current Cmd+N recipient before sending, eliminating stale-recipient selection.
  • Uses real selected and dropped files for attachments.
  • Prevents duplicate sends while a message or reply action is already in flight.
  • Keeps new-conversation sends on the pending thread until the real Messages conversation appears.
  • Preserves draft text and attachments during manual Messages handoff.
  • Opens older search results even when their conversation is outside the recent sidebar window.
  • Recovers from permission grants without requiring a relaunch.
  • Makes unsupported threaded replies an explicit Messages.app handoff instead of a fake local reply.
  • Restores Contacts and Calendar hardened-runtime entitlements.

i2Message 0.1.2

Choose a tag to compare

@viraatdas viraatdas released this 09 Jul 02:52

Bug-fix release for i2Message.

Fixed in 0.1.2

  • Texting green-bubble (SMS) contacts now works. i2Message was sending into SMS/text conversations as iMessage, so messages to anyone not on iMessage failed with "not delivered" (Apple error 22). Sends now go out on the conversation's real service — iMessage for blue threads, SMS for green ones (via Text Message Forwarding). If no SMS service is available, i2Message falls back to opening the draft in Messages.app instead of failing silently.

Improved

  • Keyboard navigation in the new-message picker — after ⌘N, use ↑/↓ to move through matching contacts and Return to start a chat with the highlighted one.

From earlier releases

  • Guided first-run setup for Full Disk Access & Contacts (0.1.1).
  • Native macOS emoji picker in the composer (0.1.1).
  • Fast paged transcripts, on-device search, threads, clickable links (0.1.0).

Install

Download i2Message-0.1.2.dmg, drag to Applications, launch. Signed & notarized. macOS 14+ · Universal.

i2Message 0.1.1

Choose a tag to compare

@viraatdas viraatdas released this 09 Jul 02:31

Second release of i2Message — a fast, keyboard-first macOS client for iMessage.

New in 0.1.1

  • Guided setup — first launch now walks you through granting Full Disk Access (so i2Message can read your Messages) and Contacts, with live status and one-tap buttons to the right System Settings pane. No more landing on demo data wondering what to do.
  • Native emoji picker — the composer emoji button now opens macOS's own Emoji & Symbols picker directly and inserts into your message, instead of a custom pop-up you had to click through.

Also included (from 0.1.0)

  • Fast, paged transcripts that keep scroll position on long histories.
  • On-device exact and semantic search.
  • Slack-style reply threads with swipe-to-thread.
  • Send from the app (1:1 and group chats).
  • Clickable links; contacts and tapbacks rendered inline.

Install

  1. Download i2Message-0.1.1.dmg below and drag i2Message to Applications.
  2. Launch it — it's signed and notarized, so it opens directly.
  3. Follow the in-app setup to grant Full Disk Access and Contacts. macOS will ask you to quit and reopen once after enabling Full Disk Access — that's expected.

macOS 14+ · Universal (Apple Silicon & Intel).

@viraatdas viraatdas released this 09 Jul 00:12

First public release of i2Message — a fast, keyboard-first macOS client for iMessage.

Highlights

  • Fast transcripts — paged loading keeps huge conversation histories smooth, with stable scroll position.
  • Search — exact and semantic search over your local messages; everything stays on-device.
  • Threads — Slack-style reply threads with a dedicated panel and swipe-to-thread.
  • Send from the app — replies go out through Messages (1:1 and group chats).
  • Clickable links — URLs in bubbles open in your default browser.
  • Clean bubbles — iMessage link-preview plugin payloads no longer show up as junk file attachments.
  • Contacts & tapbacks — names and photos resolved from Contacts; tapbacks render inline.

Install

  1. Download i2Message-0.1.0.dmg below and drag i2Message to Applications.
  2. Launch it. The app is signed and notarized, so Gatekeeper opens it directly.
  3. Grant Full Disk Access (to read the Messages database) and Contacts access when prompted — the in-app banners have Fix buttons that deep-link to the right System Settings panes. Until then the app runs on demo data.

macOS 14+ · Universal binary (Apple Silicon & Intel).
