Example Questions

Ask in plain language. Claude searches the API, picks the operation and calls it. These examples are grouped by area; the ones marked ✏️ change VSP 360 and need VSP360_ALLOW_WRITES=true.

Health and alerts

• What alerts are firing right now?
• Show critical platform alerts from the last 24 hours.
• Is the VSP 360 cluster healthy? Which services are degraded?
• ✏️ Silence the alert for the array I'm working on until tomorrow.

Devices and inventory

• List all registered storage systems and their status.
• Show the details and tags of one storage system.
• Show the inventory summary by device type.
• Show the recent device operation jobs and any that failed.
• ✏️ Register a new storage system.
• ✏️ Discover hosts and hypervisors.

Performance and capacity (Analytics)

• What were port IOPS and latency over the last hour?
• Which volumes are busiest today?
• Which pools are above 80% used?
• Show the response-time trend for one array over the past week.

Claude answers these with the Analytics query API and its built-in MQL reference.

Logs and diagnostics

• Show errors in the platform logs over the last 24 hours.
• Search the logs for a time window around an incident.
• ✏️ Create a diagnostic bundle and save it to my downloads folder.

Data protection

• List the protection policies and when each last ran.
• Which copies are older than 30 days?
• ✏️ Take a snapshot now, outside the schedule.

Provisioning and workflows

• ✏️ Provision a volume and present it to an existing host.
• ✏️ Grow a volume that's nearly full.
• ✏️ Present an existing volume to another host.

Users and access

• List users and the groups they belong to.
• What can my service account do?
• Show the authentication and multi-factor settings.
• ✏️ Add a user to a group.

Platform

• What version of VSP 360 is this, and is an upgrade available?
• When does the TLS certificate expire?
• Show this month's usage and billing report.

Tips

• Name the scope: a device, pool, host or time window gives Claude less to guess.
• Ask for a file when you want a report: "save it as pools.csv" writes it to your download folder.
• Ask for everything with "all pages" when a list is long; Claude follows pagination up to the page limit.
• Add direct tools for areas you use daily (VSP360_TOOLSETS), so Claude skips the search step.
