VB Recorder is now written in C++. The windows, dialogs, hotkeys and VBRecorder.ini stay the same: if you already use the program, you will find everything in the same place.

What's new

  • Change sources while recording. Add, edit or remove sources without stopping the recording. A new source joins in sync with the others, and editing a source changes its volume right away. With separate files, a source added midway gets a file that starts with silence from the beginning, and the file of a removed source goes on in silence and picks the source up again if you add it back, so all files stay in sync. Removing every source keeps the recording going in silence, ready for new ones.
  • Continue the last recording. After stopping, the file is ready to be played or opened in any editor, and the new Continue Last Recording button goes on recording in the same file, as if it had only been paused. The Pause / Continue hotkey and the tray menu do the same. With MP3, OGG and OPUS, the part already recorded is encoded again.
  • Record a program by its executable name. Type the name (game.exe, for example), even with the program closed: it is recorded whenever it runs, however many times it is opened and closed and however many copies are open. Great for gameplay that starts in the middle of a recording.
  • Automatic updates. When it starts, VB Recorder checks for a new version and offers to install it: it downloads the right one for your Windows (32 or 64 bits), updates itself and opens again. It can also be checked from the settings, and turned off. This is the first version with the updater, so this time you still need to download it by hand.
  • No more stutters. Recording now has a real buffer, and the buffer size in the settings applies to every source. The stutters that appeared when the computer or the recorded program was not in use (and Windows put it in power saving mode) are gone, for processes, sound cards and loopbacks alike.
  • Sources that drop out come back by themselves. A sound card that goes to sleep, is unplugged or changes format, or a process capture that stops, is opened again automatically, in sync.
  • 32-bit and 64-bit. There is a version for each Windows.
  • Much smaller. The executable is under 1 MB.
  • While recording, the computer does not go to sleep, also on computers with Modern Standby.
  • When you stop, all the audio captured up to that moment goes to the file.

Which one to download

  • VBRecorder-x64.zip: 64-bit Windows (most computers).
  • VBRecorder-x86.zip: 32-bit Windows. It also runs on 64-bit Windows.

Extract it wherever you like and run VBRecorder.exe. The lib folder must stay next to it. Requires Windows 10 or later.

If you already use an earlier version, your VBRecorder.ini keeps working: just put it in the new folder.
