v1.5.1
Patch on top of v1.5.0.
- The interactive UI is now bilingual (English + Japanese). About 70% of downloads are
from outside Japan, but the agent's own text - banner, prompt,y/Nconfirmations,
provider-switch messages, API-key error messages, goodbye - was Japanese only. Everything
a person reads now prints English first, then Japanese (the pattern already used for the
first-run Gemini key walkthrough). No behavior change, text only. - Confirmed on real hardware: the IME-commit-as-submit fix (pausing on a conversion
candidate no longer submits the line early).
Everything from v1.5.0 (the OpenAI-compatible / local-LLM provider) still applies - see that
release and CHANGELOG.md.
Install
Download ppc-claude-agent-v1.5.1.zip, copy the folder to the PowerPC Mac, double-click
Install.command, follow the prompts, then run advisor in a new Terminal window.
v1.5.0
Adds a third provider so a PowerPC Mac can front a local / self-hosted LLM.
New: CLAUDE_PROVIDER=openai
Point the agent at any OpenAI-compatible chat/completions endpoint - a
llama.cpp / Ollama / LM Studio server on a faster x86 or ARM machine on your LAN,
for example.
export CLAUDE_PROVIDER=openai
export OPENAI_BASE_URL=http://192.168.1.50:8080/v1 # your server
export CLAUDE_MODEL=<model name the server expects>
export OPENAI_API_KEY=<only if your server needs one>- Plain
http://LAN endpoints work (no cert needed). /openaiswitches to it mid-conversation.- Tool use (
run_shelletc.) depends on the local model supporting OpenAI
function-calling; plain conversation works with any model.
Everything from v1.4.x still applies. Full detail in CHANGELOG.md.
Install
Download ppc-claude-agent-v1.5.0.zip, copy the folder to the PowerPC Mac,
double-click Install.command, follow the prompts, then run advisor in a new
Terminal window.
v1.4.1
Patch on top of v1.4.0.
- The first-run Gemini API key walkthrough is now bilingual (English + Japanese) —
the numbered steps, the browser-open prompt, the paste prompt, and every result/error
line. Same steps and validation as before; it was Japanese-only in v1.4.0.
Everything from v1.4.0 still applies — see that release and CHANGELOG.md.
Install
Download ppc-claude-agent-v1.4.1.zip, copy the folder to the PowerPC Mac, double-click
Install.command, follow the prompts, then run advisor in a new Terminal window.
v1.4.0
First tagged release. A self-contained Claude / Gemini terminal agent for
PowerPC Macs on Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) — single Perl file, bundled TLS-capable
curl, no MacPorts / Xcode / CPAN.
Highlights
- Input no longer flickers. The line editor stopped repainting the whole
line on every keystroke — plain typing just prints the character now, so it
feels stable even on a G4. - Scrollback stays clean. Fixed the half-typed duplicate lines that used to
pile up in terminal history while typing near the bottom of the screen. - Japanese / IME input fixed across the board — stray characters, cursor
drift on full-width text, accidental line submit while choosing a conversion,
and garbled reconversions. - Terminal size is measured, not guessed. Handles machines where
stty sizelies (including the "0 0" case seen on a PowerMac G4) by asking
the terminal directly via CPR. - Typewriter output. Replies print character by character; tune with
CLAUDE_TYPE_DELAY(seconds per char),0for instant. - Guided Gemini key setup on first run — a numbered walkthrough, opens the
page for you, and verifies the key you paste before accepting it. - Assorted crash and stability fixes (debug logger, stray cursor-report
fragments, lazy-scroll bookkeeping).
Full detail, dated, in CHANGELOG.md.
