Ernesto 0.1.0

Stable release of Wavect's Claude Code companion with optional scoped Vitest evidence. Companion controls include quiet, reduced motion, hide/show and chocolate. QA is explicit and per workspace; the reviewed local helper records scalar results and start/end input snapshots. Mood never changes evidence. The mod makes no model calls, sends no telemetry and does not automatically run tests.

The owner requested stable publication on 14 October 2026. This is a normal release, marked Latest. The earlier immutable v0.1.0-rc.1 release remains available. Stable version metadata and displayed help agree on 0.1.0; companion/evidence/helper behavior is unchanged. This version also includes bounded sanitized CI failure receipts. A separate deliberately failing fixture kept CI failed and produced only the reviewed receipt; that fixture is absent from this source.

Install and update

Use tested Claude Code 2.1.296 terminal. Shell installation defaults to user scope:

claude plugin install ernesto --marketplace wavect/ernesto

Inside Claude Code:

/plugin install ernesto --marketplace wavect/ernesto

Fallback:

claude plugin marketplace add wavect/ernesto
claude plugin install ernesto@ernesto

Refresh the marketplace catalog, then update an existing installation:

claude plugin marketplace update ernesto
claude plugin update ernesto@ernesto

Restart Claude Code, run /ernesto status and confirm version 0.1.0 and the companion. QA starts off each session. Match installation scope when updating/removing. Third-party marketplace auto-update is off by default. Scoped removal is claude plugin uninstall ernesto@ernesto; optional claude plugin marketplace remove ernesto also removes that marketplace's plugins. Review separately owned project configuration/evidence before deleting anything.

For a source pin, review and install the exact tagged checkout:

git clone --branch v0.1.0 --single-branch https://github.com/wavect/ernesto.git tag-checkout
git -C tag-checkout rev-parse HEAD
claude plugin install ernesto --marketplace ./tag-checkout

The expected HEAD is 350d19f215364e1e5bb99e2dd4da9f8f44ed931d. Resolve existing marketplace registration deliberately; preserve unrelated plugins and keep the local source available. See the pinned install guide and recovery guide.

Verification and downloads

Before publication: 19 Node tests, 23 official host tests, strict plugin/marketplace validation, formatting and zero npm vulnerabilities passed. Final package/privacy tests passed. Both exact reviewed-head GitHub checks passed. Tested environment: macOS 26.5.1 arm64, Claude Code 2.1.296, Node 24.3.0 and project-local Vitest 4.1.11.

The fresh actual stable CLI demo is 25 seconds, 960x800, H264, 147,381 bytes. It shows QA off, real pass, edit/stale, real failure and chocolate retaining failed evidence. It uses synthetic arithmetic data and faithful terminal-cell crops with pauses shortened, zero model calls. All 11 runtime/helper hashes and 15 exported media hashes matched the stable source; four caption/transcript languages accompany it. Existing media filenames are retained for URL compatibility.

Download all three assets: ernesto-source.tar.gz, CONTENTS.sha256.json, SHA256SUMS. Archive: 72 regular files, 2,938,298 bytes, SHA256 80181daf607c75ce1c00b15a6eddc278f9666af29e528596ebf7b8318ce958bc. Run shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS and compare archive contents with the inventory. Two deterministic exports matched every source file. Postpublication verification passed as recorded below.

Boundaries

Source code is MIT. Wavect artwork/trademarks use separate ASSET_LICENSE.md terms. Wavect charges no code fee; Claude access and user-run tests may have their own costs. No Anthropic directory listing, endorsement or affiliation is claimed.

Local evidence is forgeable by same-user processes. Snapshot matches cover reviewed inputs at comparison time, not immutable execution, business correctness or external services. No Desktop Code, Windows/WSL/cloud or actual Linux terminal UI support claim. Human five-minute comprehension testing, formal accessibility certification and sustained field-performance validation remain unperformed.

Public release verification, 14 October 2026

GitHub reports draft false, prerelease false, immutable true and Latest for release 412314216, published 2026-10-14T03:37:12Z. The signed release and all three downloaded asset attestations passed. Independent anonymous downloads matched every approved asset byte; all 72 archive files matched the inventory and tag. All 74 installed tracked files matched main/tag 350d19f215364e1e5bb99e2dd4da9f8f44ed931d, tree d4dae64d592706cbcab99dd349f6690139ecd798. Future default-main changes need fresh reconciliation.

A public rc.1 installation was preserved before publication, its catalog refreshed, and its scoped plugin update returned updated, from 0.1.0-rc.1 to 0.1.0. A fresh actual CLI session loaded the new help and companion with QA off. This proves that specific upgrade; a downgrade and future transitions were not exercised.

Clean public combined and fallback shell lifecycle checks passed, including project scope, update, disable/re-enable, uninstall, marketplace removal and reinstall. Actual in-session combined project installation and fallback user installation each loaded the stable help and companion immediately and after a separate fresh restart. All four cases matched all 74 tagged files. Cached official host tests 23/23 and strict validation passed; the explicitly invoked installed helper ran one real passing test, exit 0 with a complete snapshot. Owned profiles/plugins/catalogs were cleaned and unrelated sentinels preserved. These checks made no model calls.

Website PR298 and stable-version follow-up PR300 are merged into master. PR300 merged as e1c7ce0af29597a6ecb7231d9ecea41c223fb3d8 after both exact-head checks passed. The existing GitHub integration handles deployment; no Cloudflare account access is required. The GitHub project release is independent of an Anthropic directory listing.
