Ernesto 0.3.0 is a stable release with plug-and-play project checks.

Install and restart Claude Code: Ernesto appears immediately. Open /ernesto evidence and choose Check project, or type /ernesto check. It detects an existing npm/pnpm/yarn/bun test or check script. No helper-cache paths to copy, required project JSON, or dependency downloads.

To upgrade an existing installation, refresh its marketplace metadata, update the plugin in your original scope, then restart Claude Code:

claude plugin marketplace update ernesto
claude plugin update ernesto@ernesto --scope user

Replace user with your actual installation scope if different. Restarting loads the new cached version. Third-party marketplace auto-updates remain a separate Claude Code setting.

New installations:

claude plugin install ernesto --marketplace wavect/ernesto

Changes:

  • Explicit native Check project button and slash command; nothing runs at startup or during comparison.
  • Actual command exit and input freshness remain separate. Generic command completion does not claim verified test counts or coverage.
  • Bounded command output stays in session memory and appears through Details.
  • Existing configured Vitest checks preserve custom roots and filters. Supported Vitest-only projects initialize missing defaults internally on the explicit check action.
  • Default-on QA observation, remembered workspace preferences, quiet/hide/reduced-motion controls, terminal pixel artwork and optional sarcastic banter.

Validation: 39 official host tests, 36 Node tests including real Vitest negative paths, strict SDK validation, formatting, deterministic package/privacy checks and npm audit with zero vulnerabilities. Merge-commit CI passed. Real macOS CLI checks covered a config-free npm command, native button execution, Vitest initialization/pass/stale/fail, narrow/wide and light/dark layouts, installed-copy loading and local 0.2.0-to-0.3.0 update/removal. The 46-second terminal recording uses the exact released runtime; its “candidate/unreleased” overlay describes the time of recording. No model prompt or call was used.

Tested UI: Claude Code 2.1.296 on macOS 26.5.1 arm64. Real generic execution tested npm with Node 24.3.0; pnpm/yarn/bun selection has deterministic tests, not real execution qualification. Detailed Vitest evidence requires Node major 24 and local Vitest 4.1.11. Desktop and other operating systems remain unqualified. Historical performance measurements are not new 0.3.0 measurements.

Project checks execute project code and may use the inherited environment, networks and filesystem. Ernesto adds no model calls, telemetry, external requests, dependency installs or permission decisions. Off/hide discards late results, but an already launched command may continue until completion or its two-minute timeout. Input snapshots are bounded local observations, not whole-project acceptance or tamper-proof attestation.

Original source is MIT; Wavect mascot artwork has separate ASSET_LICENSE.md terms. GitHub marketplace distribution is available; no Anthropic directory listing or endorsement is claimed. Earlier immutable releases remain unchanged. The versioned release record is authoritative; source README/demo references to the pre-publication candidate describe the reviewed snapshot.
