Custom HiDPI resolution with BetterDisplay Pro? #5636
|
Hi everyone, I recently purchased BetterDisplay Pro because I was hoping it would allow me to create a custom display resolution or HiDPI scaling mode for my setup. My setup: I’m trying to find the best balance between screen space, refresh rate and Retina-like image quality. The standard scaling options available don't quite give me the desktop size I want. When I use some of the other resolution options, the image quality becomes noticeably worse, particularly with the Dock, icons and other macOS UI elements. Is there a way in BetterDisplay Pro to manually create an exact custom scaled resolution while retaining HiDPI quality? I purchased the Pro version hoping this would allow me to specify a custom resolution or scaling level, but I haven't been able to work out how to do it. If this is possible, could someone please point me towards the correct settings or explain how to set it up? I’m happy to provide screenshots of my current BetterDisplay settings and the resolutions available to me if that helps. Thanks! |

Yes, you should be able to create custom HiDPI resolutions (as long as they fit the framebuffer limitations imposed by the system). The simplest solution I think is to enable flexible scaling: https://github.com/waydabber/BetterDisplay/wiki/Fully-scalable-HiDPI-desktop But you can define custom scaled resolutions as well:
You need to apply the changers and activate or reboot. |
