Apolo v1.0.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 27 Oct 18:05

Apolo 1.0: imágenes más ligeras, igual de buenas. La primera versión estable. Llega por el
actualizador.

English below.

    directorios encuentran Apolo solos.

BSD), OxiPNG (MIT), libimagequant (GPLv3), libavif, aom, libyuv y libjxl (BSD), highway y sjpeg

In English

Apolo 1.0: lighter images, just as good. The first stable release. It arrives through the
updater.

  • 1.0. Apolo has now been tested thoroughly on macOS, Windows and Linux (GNOME and KDE, on x64
and ARM): this is its stable release. Nothing changes when compressing: each format still produces
the same file, byte for byte, as its official tool.
  • The new motto, “Lighter images, just as good”, in the Studio's welcome, Settings › About, the
command line, the Linux packages and the .dmg background.
  • A new website, apolo.webcafeina.com: it knows your
computer and gives you its download, with screenshots of your system; guides with figures measured
by Apolo (convert to WebP, AVIF or JPEG XL, compress without losing quality, images for the web,
HEIC to JPG, with an AI agent) and comparisons with other tools.
  • Downloads you can verify: every file in this release has its provenance signed by GitHub,
stating which build produced it and from which code
(gh attestation verify <file> --repo webcafeina/Apolo), and the download pages show each file's
    SHA-256 sum.
  • More security inside: dependencies with security advisories updated, and the installers are
signed without the interface's code having the keys at hand.
  • In the official MCP Registry, as io.github.webcafeina/apolo: AI agents and their
directories find Apolo on their own.

If you use Apolo from Claude Desktop, quit and reopen it after updating.

Downloads: the same files as in the table above. macOS 11+ (.dmg), Windows 10/11 x64 and
ARM64 (-setup.exe), Linux amd64 and arm64 (.deb, .rpm or .AppImage); the command line in
apolo-cli-*; the Claude Desktop extension in .mcpb (in English). The easiest way is the website,
which gives you your computer's download. The installers aren't signed: on macOS, System
Settings › Privacy & Security › “Open Anyway”; on Windows, SmartScreen › “More info” › “Run anyway”.
SHA256SUMS.txt has every file's checksum.

macOS, en tu idioma. Llega por el actualizador.

English below.

macOS, in your language. It arrives through the updater.

  • macOS: the menu bar is in Apolo's language. It used to be in English even on a Mac set to

macOS y Windows, afinados antes de la 1.0. Llega por el actualizador.

English below.

macOS and Windows, refined before 1.0. It arrives through the updater.

  • macOS: the sidebar uses the system's sidebar material, the same as Finder's. Until now it used

  • macOS, in light mode: the sidebar icons in a brighter gold. They used to look dull.

Touch-ups to 0.18.0. It arrives through the updater.

  • “Start from” shows the saved preset you applied, as it already did with cwebp's. It stays even
if you then change a setting.
  • On Windows, the expanded navigation pane is narrower (240 px instead of 320), and Batches,

@github-actions github-actions released this 24 Oct 12:01

Recortar y Redimensionar, a la vista. Llega por el actualizador.

English below.

    oficial.

In English

Crop and Resize, in plain sight. It arrives through the updater.

  • A bar above the image, in the Studio, with Crop and Resize: no more looking for them in the
panel. They belong to the image, so they apply to both sides of the comparison, which compare
    formats on the same thing.
  • Resize shows the size on its button and opens a small window: the longest side (the same
value works for landscape and portrait photos), a percentage, or width and height with a lock,
common sizes and how it will turn out. It never enlarges, unless you allow it.
  • Crop is done on the image; meanwhile, the bar holds the aspect ratio, the frame's size, Done
and Remove. Enter or Escape finish it.
  • Batches have their own “Size” for every image, over the preset. A batch no longer crops, even
if an older preset carries a crop.
  • Presets store the longest side or the percentage as such, and no longer store the crop, which
    belongs to each image.
  • The command line: apolo lote --lado-mayor 1920 or --porcentaje 50. The agent (MCP)
    understands lado_mayor and porcentaje.
  • Fixed: asking for a size larger than the image, without enlarging, no longer drops the
equivalent command or changes the file.
  • Nothing else changes: each format still produces the same file, byte for byte, as its official
    tool.

If you use Apolo from Claude Desktop, quit and reopen it after updating.

@github-actions github-actions released this 23 Oct 11:26

Apolo, con el aspecto de KDE Plasma. Llega por el actualizador.

English below.

    oficial.

In English

Apolo, with the look of KDE Plasma. It arrives through the updater.

  • On KDE Plasma, Apolo looks like a KDE application: no KWin title bar, Apolo's own header on
top, Breeze window buttons on the system's side and the Breeze frame (radius 5 corners and its
shadow); the System Settings sidebar, with the selected section in Apolo's gold; Breeze controls
with the Noto Sans font; Settings as a KDE form; and the Breeze icons. Tested on Kubuntu and
Fedora KDE. On GNOME and other desktops, everything stays as on Ubuntu.
  • On Ubuntu, three icons drawn in full: Studio, “Desktop” and “Language” were missing parts
    since v0.15.0.
  • On Linux, a long file name is cut with “…” in the Studio header instead of sliding under the
    comparison modes.
  • Nothing else changes: each format still produces the same file, byte for byte, as its official
    tool.

If you use Apolo from Claude Desktop, quit and reopen it after updating.

The installers aren't

@github-actions github-actions released this 22 Oct 19:03

Apolo, en más distribuciones de Linux. Llega por el actualizador.

English below.

    oficial.

Para instalarla con el gestor de paquetes:

# Debian y Ubuntu
sudo install -dm755 /etc/apt/keyrings
sudo curl -fsSLo /etc/apt/keyrings/apolo.asc https://apolo.webcafeina.com/apolo.asc
sudo curl -fsSLo /etc/apt/sources.list.d/apolo.sources https://apolo.webcafeina.com/apt/apolo.sources
sudo apt update && sudo apt install apolo

# Fedora
sudo curl -fsSLo /etc/yum.repos.d/apolo.repo https://apolo.webcafeina.com/rpm/apolo.repo
sudo dnf install apolo

# Arch
mkdir apolo && cd apolo
curl -fsSLO https://apolo.webcafeina.com/aur/PKGBUILD
makepkg -si

Apolo, on more Linux distributions. It arrives through the updater.

  • Fedora and openSUSE: Apolo also comes as a signed .rpm, for amd64 and arm64. It installs

  • Our own repositories: on Debian, Ubuntu and Fedora, Apolo can be installed and updated with
the system's package manager (apt or dnf), from apolo.webcafeina.com, with its key.

Apolo, con el aspecto de Ubuntu 26.10. Llega por el actualizador.

English below.

@github-actions github-actions released this 21 Oct 20:11

Apolo en macOS 27, afinado. Llega por el actualizador.

English below.
