Release list
EFTP_XL 1.5
The program is now EFTPXL.COM (the AERA 8-bit standard). Copy it and AERA.FNT over the old ones and delete the old EFTPXL.PRG. Your EFTPXL.CFG carries over as it is.
- It loads at
$1E00, over EDOS, and ends at$770C. It needs a DOS whose MEMLO is at$1E00or below, as DOS 2.5 ($1CFC) and SpartaDOS 3.2 ($17A2) are; with a higher one (DOS 2.5 with the 850's R: handler, for one) it says so and goes back to DOS. - Faster disk access (AERA guidelines 5.5): files go to and from the disk through all the memory above the program, 8K with BASIC on and 16K with it off, one write or read for all it holds (a 20K file is 3 with BASIC on, 2 off), and each file is opened once.
- Replace? Y/N/All: A replaces that file and every one after it without asking again.
- After a transfer only the side the files went to is read again, and a site saved is not read back from the disk.
121 checks in make test. In atari800 the program starts with BASIC on and off, and MAC/65 1.01 assembles it from EFTPXL.ATR with 0 errors and the same bytes.
EFTP_XL 1.4
EFTP_XL 1.4: SFTP and FTPS, through the AERA Pi gateway.
- SFTP and FTPS. A site's new Protocol row picks FTP, SFTP or FTPS. SFTP and FTPS go through
eftpgate, AERA-Gateway's FTP gateway on a Raspberry Pi (sudo gateway/aera-gateway install ftp): the Atari speaks plain FTP to the Pi on the home network, the Pi speaks SFTP or FTPS to the server. ^G in the Sites screen sets the Pi's address (:portif it isn't 2121). Give the site the server's own name, port, user and password; EFTP_XL logs in to the gateway assftp:user@server:portitself. A blank port is 22 for SFTP. - Text files through the gateway go as FTP text (TYPE A), so they get the server's own line ends (LF on SFTP); binary files go as they are. Plain FTP sites work as in 1.3.
- EFTPXL.CFG keeps the gateway as an
@line and a site's protocol as|1(SFTP) or|2(FTPS) after its mode; 1.3's file is read as it is, and FTP sites' lines are unchanged. - The README checked line by line against the program:
AERA.FNTandEFTPXL.CFGare read fromD:(the DOS's current drive and folder), what a blank field means, how to update, and the new SFTP and FTPS section. The test plan has a section 7 for SFTP. - The program takes $4000-$9708 and is 15.1K.
Files:
EFTPXL.PRG, the program;EFTPXL.ATR, a bootable SpartaDOS 3.2 disk with the program, AERA.FNT and the Mac/65 sources with line numbers, tokenized;AERA.FNT, the font;EFTPTEST.ATR, the test disk, with TESTPLAN.TXT.
On the Atari: LOAD #D:EFTPXL.M65, then ASM ,,#D:EFTPXL.PRG (over the program on the disk).
Checked:
- the 82 checks of tools/test_sim.py, 7 of them SFTP and FTPS through eftpgate from AERA-Gateway's latest release (v1.1) to the SFTP and FTPS servers of its own tests;
- in atari800: the disk boots, the program starts with BASIC on and off, the Sites screen shows the Protocol row;
- MAC/65 1.01 builds the same bytes from the disk (0 errors, 13674 bytes free).
Not yet run on real hardware.
EFTP_XL 1.3
EFTP_XL 1.3: smaller, with the font outside the program and a test disk.
- BREAK acts as ESC, and ESC or BREAK cancels every prompt.
- The font is outside the program. When
AERA.FNTis on the drive you start EFTP_XL from, it is read into the 1K just below the screen, as EDOS does, and its icons are used. Without it EFTP_XL runs in the Atari's own font, with characters of that font as icons: folders as a right triangle, names cut short ending in a right arrow, the transfer bar drawn with lines. - More free memory. The program now takes $4000-$94A6 (it ended at $9BDD in 1.2), so with BASIC on there is room for the font below the screen. EFTPXL.PRG is 14.6K.
- EFTPXL.CFG keeps the sites as its lines, packed (up to 8 sites in 640 bytes). Lines that start with
;are notes and are skipped; EFTP_XL writes a short note at the top. 1.2's file is read as it is. A site that doesn't fit says "No room for this site." - EFTPTEST.ATR, a test disk for real hardware: the program, AERA.FNT, TESTPLAN.TXT (the test plan, 38 columns,
TYPE TESTPLAN.TXT), a sample site to fill in and the files the plan sends.
Files:
EFTPXL.PRG, the program;EFTPXL.ATR, a bootable SpartaDOS 3.2 disk with the program, AERA.FNT and the Mac/65 sources with line numbers, tokenized;AERA.FNT, the font;EFTPTEST.ATR, the test disk.
On the Atari: LOAD #D:EFTPXL.M65, then ASM ,,#D:EFTPXL.PRG (over the program on the disk).
Checked:
- the 75 checks of tools/test_sim.py, among them ESC and BREAK at every prompt, the sites file, the test disk and the font with and without AERA.FNT;
- in atari800, the program starts with BASIC on and off, and BREAK and RESET come back to it, with and without AERA.FNT;
- MAC/65 1.01 builds the same bytes from the disk.
Not yet run on real hardware.
EFTP_XL 1.2
EFTP_XL 1.2, now on the AERA 8-bit shared code (xl/ from AERA-Atari).
- RESET brings EFTP_XL back to its main screen, disconnected, with the FujiNet connections (N1:, N2:) closed. It no longer drops to DOS.
- HELP ends with the About lines: version, what it is, copyright, licence and the GitHub page.
- Disk errors show their text, e.g. "NOTES.TXT: Disk full" instead of "error 162".
- AERA.FNT, the font the AERA 8-bit programs share, is in the release. When it is on the drive you start EFTP_XL from, EFTP_XL reads it; without it, EFTP_XL uses its own copy of the same font.
- The load check is the shared one: if DOS sits above $4000, or there isn't room, it says so and goes back to DOS before loading.
Files:
EFTPXL.PRG, the program;EFTPXL.ATR, a bootable SpartaDOS 3.2 disk with the program, AERA.FNT and the Mac/65 sources with line numbers, tokenized;AERA.FNT, the font.
On the Atari: LOAD #D:EFTPXL.M65, then ASM ,,#D:EFTPXL.PRG (over the program on the disk).
Checked:
- the 41 checks of tools/test_sim.py, including RESET, About, AERA.FNT and the load check;
- in atari800, the disk boots, the program starts, and RESET comes back to it;
- MAC/65 1.01 builds the same bytes from the disk.
Not yet run on real hardware.
EFTP_XL 1.1
EFTP_XL 1.1. Use this instead of 1.0 and all earlier releases.
- Fix: the data connection. Opening N2: (the FTP data connection) sent 257 bytes instead of the FujiNet's 256-byte frame. On a real FujiNet that most likely made every folder listing and every file transfer fail, though logging in worked. This was the case in every release from 0.3 to 1.0. The simulator used by the tests now checks each network command's length as the FujiNet does, so this can't come back unnoticed.
- Fix: when the server's reply after a download is an error, that reply is now shown, not an earlier error message.
- More comments in the sources where the code is not plain at a glance: stack and flag tricks, 16- and 32-bit math, what the registers and pointers hold, and examples of the lines being parsed.
Files: EFTPXL.PRG, the program; EFTPXL.ATR, the bootable SpartaDOS disk with the Mac/65 sources and the program. On the Atari: LOAD #D:EFTPXL.M65, then ASM ,,#D:EFTPXL.PRG.
Checked with all the tests of tools/test_sim.py, and Mac/65 1.01 builds the same program. Not yet run on real hardware.
EFTP_XL 1.0
Withdrawn: use v1.1 instead. Opening the FTP data connection (N2:) sent 257 bytes instead of the FujiNet's 256, so folder listings and file transfers most likely fail on a real FujiNet.
EFTP_XL 1.0.
EFTPXL.ATR: the disk is now namedEFTPXL.ATR(it wasEFTPXL-SRC.ATR), as it holds both the sources and the program. It boots SpartaDOS 3.2; the Mac/65 sources are on it tokenized, ready to LOAD.- Commented sources: every source file has a short header (its name, the version, what is in it, the copyright), each routine a few lines on what it does, its inputs and its exit, and short comments where the code doesn't say it itself. The long notes at the top of each file are gone.
EFTPXL.PRG: the program. Apart from the version shown it is the same as 0.9: only comments changed, and both ATasm and MAC/65 1.01 build the same bytes.
On the Atari: LOAD #D:EFTPXL.M65, then ASM ,,#D:EFTPXL.PRG.
Checked with the tests of tools/test_sim.py. Not yet run on real hardware.
EFTP_XL 0.9
Withdrawn: use v1.1 instead. Opening the FTP data connection (N2:) sent 257 bytes instead of the FujiNet's 256, so folder listings and file transfers most likely fail on a real FujiNet.
The program is now EFTPXL.PRG (it was EFTPXL.XEX), the same name Mac/65 writes on the Atari:
LOAD #D:EFTPXL.M65
ASM ,,#D:EFTPXL.PRG
EFTPXL.PRG: the program. On SpartaDOS, typeEFTPXL.PRG; on DOS 2.5, use L (binary load).EFTPXL-SRC.ATR: the bootable SpartaDOS source disk, with the tokenized Mac/65 sources and EFTPXL.PRG.
The program itself is unchanged from 0.8 apart from the version shown.
EFTP_XL 0.8
Withdrawn: use v1.1 instead. Opening the FTP data connection (N2:) sent 257 bytes instead of the FujiNet's 256, so folder listings and file transfers most likely fail on a real FujiNet.
- Fix: after a folder is sent, both panes' cursors stay where they were. In 0.7 the cursor went back to the top.
- From this release on, releases are full releases marked Latest, as in the other AERA repositories, so the repository's page shows the newest one. 0.3 to 0.7 were pre-releases.
- The README has pictures of the program and a Testing section.
Checked with the 32 checks of tools/test_sim.py. Not yet run on real hardware.
EFTP_XL 0.7
Withdrawn: use v1.1 instead. Opening the FTP data connection (N2:) sent 257 bytes instead of the FujiNet's 256, so folder listings and file transfers most likely fail on a real FujiNet.
Folders, with everything in them.
- Mark a folder with SPACE (or put the cursor on it) and ^T sends it with all its files and subfolders, up to 8 levels deep, either way.
- A folder is made on the other side, or merged into if it is already there. Files already there are asked about, as at the top.
- Going to the Atari, folders get 8.3 names like files. This needs SpartaDOS; DOS 2.5 has no folders and says so.
- The summary counts the files: "3 files, 4K in 0:00".
Checked in the test simulator against an FTP server (a folder two levels deep down to the Atari, one up to the server, DOS 2.5), and with MAC/65 1.01 in the atari800 emulator (0 errors, the same program). Not yet run on real hardware.
EFTP_XL 0.6
Withdrawn: use v1.1 instead. Opening the FTP data connection (N2:) sent 257 bytes instead of the FujiNet's 256, so folder listings and file transfers most likely fail on a real FujiNet.
- Bootable source disk:
EFTPXL-SRC.ATRnow boots SpartaDOS 3.2. Boot it with the Mac/65 cartridge in, typeCAR, thenLOAD #D:EFTPXL.M65andASM ,,#D:EFTPXL.XEX. Or runEFTPXL.XEXfrom the SpartaDOS prompt. - Fix, SpartaDOS: file sizes on the Atari side were wrong, and SpartaDOS folders were missing. SpartaDOS gives a program its directory in DOS 2's short form (in sectors, without folders) unless asked for the long one, which EFTP_XL now does. DOS 2.5 is unchanged.
Checked in the atari800 emulator: SpartaDOS 3.2 boots from the disk, EFTP_XL shows the sizes right, and MAC/65 1.01 builds from the disk the same program as this release's EFTPXL.XEX, with 0 errors. Not yet run on real hardware.
