Sim Data Manager 0.9.7
Sim Data Manager 0.9.7
The program now links to the guide. Help has a new item, Open the Guide, and the How to Use This window has a link at the top. Both open the guide page on wilderlabs.studio in your browser, and only when you click them. The program loads nothing from the web by itself.
To update, let the app's updater offer this version, install it and restart. Your database, saved searches and settings stay as they are. The program still does not touch ehorseracing.com.

Sim Data Manager 0.9.6
Sim Data Manager 0.9.6
A new Coffee button sits in the top bar, next to the Theme button. It opens a short window that says the tool is free and the website version costs a few dollars a month to host. If you want to chip in, you can send a buck or two of sim credit to the account unreal, or leave a tip on Ko-fi. Neither is required, and the program works the same either way.
The window only opens when you click the button. The program sends nothing, and the Ko-fi link opens in your browser only when you click it.

Sim Data Manager 0.9.5
Sim Data Manager 0.9.5
The program now opens in a new look called Racing Form. The results tables look like a printed racing form: paper-colored background, serif type, one thin line under each row, and no column dividers. The old looks are still there. Choose them from the Theme button at the top right.
If you picked a theme earlier, the program keeps your choice. The new look shows up on its own only if you never changed the theme.
Other changes:
- When a horse changes trainers, a solid line now separates the two stretches of rows. It shows when the list is in date order.
- The 2yo, 3yo and 4yo+ boxes above the results no longer stick out of their shaded labels.
- Help, About now shows the real version number. It said 0.9.2 before.
- Links inside pop-up windows use the theme color in Racing Form.

Sim Data Manager 0.9.4
Sim Data Manager 0.9.4
This fixes a bug in 0.9.3. Search results failed with the message "CLMCOLS is not defined" and the table stayed empty. The page still pointed at a part of the removed Claim Finder. That reference is gone.
If you are on 0.9.3, the app's updater will offer this version. Install it and restart the program. Your database, saved searches and settings stay as they are.
Nothing else changed. The program still does not touch ehorseracing.com, and it still runs from the race database on your computer.

Sim Data Manager 0.9.3
Removed
The Claim Finder, the Sire Finder, and the My Stables and stable lookups are gone. They loaded pages from ehorseracing.com automatically.
The owners of the game are fine with people using a web browser and a mouse to point and click around the site. They do not allow any automation, even when it is slower than a browser and a mouse. So this program no longer contacts the site at all. It runs from a race database on your computer, updated weekly from Denovo’s weekly database files. Sire details still show, from data already in the database.
Sim Data Manager 0.9.3
Sim Data Manager 0.9.3
This version does not touch ehorseracing.com. At all.
Removed, and why
The Claim Finder, the Sire Finder, and the My Stables and stable lookups are gone. They loaded pages from the site automatically, and the owners of the game have made it clear that is not allowed.
Here is where the owners stand. Open a browser, point a mouse, click through the site all day: fine. Let a program make the same requests, even slower than a browser and a mouse would: not tolerated, at any speed, for any reason. I think that line is hard to defend. A program that waits and fetches one page at a time takes no more from the site than the person sitting there clicking. But it is their site and their rule, so the code that did it is gone instead of left in as a switch you could turn on.
What is left is simple. Sim Data Manager runs from a race database on your computer. The database is updated weekly from Denovo's weekly database files. Nothing in the program goes out to the site, and there is a test in the project that fails if anything ever does.
Sire details still show, from data already in the database. Your race database, saved searches and settings stay as they are when you update.

Sim Data Manager 0.9.2
Sim Data Manager 0.9.2
- After an update, the app now has a Restart now button. It starts the new version and reloads the window by itself. You do not have to close and reopen anything. (If you are updating from 0.9.1, you still reopen the app once by hand, because the button only exists from 0.9.2 on.)
- A new first-install zip. The earlier one held a private watch list and personal settings from the author's own copy. This one is built from the cleaned shared database and checked before upload.
Your race database and settings stay as they are when you update.

Sim Data Manager 0.9
Sim Data Manager 0.9.1
Small update to 0.9.
- The program now closes about 20 seconds after you close its window, instead of about 3 minutes. You can move or delete the folder soon after.
- New Help > Exit Sim Data Manager closes the program right away.
- Data > Get the Shared Database now fills in the database link for you. You no longer paste anything. The database file is refreshed every week.
- A running download keeps going if you close the window, and the program exits when it finishes.
If you already have 0.9, the app offers this update by itself. Your database and settings stay as they are.
