Clipboard: Sill no longer empties the clipboard or writes over a copy
you made while it was working. A shortcut that reads the clipboard
(Ctrl+Alt+J, K, R by default) pressed with a picture or a file list on the
clipboard used to leave it empty; a copy made during a transform or a
snippet paste used to be replaced by the older text Sill put back. Sill now
keeps the number Windows gives every clipboard change, restores only when
the last change was its own, and never restores by emptying. Extensions
and the AI reading the selection, and snippets with a {selection}
placeholder, no longer leave Sill's own copy on your clipboard. A dictated
transcript that is pasted is no longer recorded in clipboard history as
though you had copied it. Every write Sill makes to the clipboard, and
every change the history watcher sees, is one line in sill.log with the
change numbers around it, so a copy that goes missing can be placed
against what Sill was doing at that moment.
Widgets: The "This machine" widget is gone, and so is the live CPU, RAM
and Sill MB line under the Widgets row. While the launcher is open, Sill no
longer walks every process once a second: with the launcher visible on an
empty query for 60 s, the release build measured 0.21% of one core, down
from 5.04% on 0.4.0 with the widget pinned, and 5,096 context switches
instead of 12,752 (Get-Counter '\Process(sill)\% Processor Time' -SampleInterval 1 -MaxSamples 60, same machine, same day). Clock, World
clock and Weather are unchanged; a pinned "machine" entry in an existing
preferences file is ignored.
Chrome: Every floating surface wears the same glass: the launcher's
popovers, the model chip and menu button, the clipboard bar's filters, the
store filter, the tooltip, the AI composer and permission card, the
screenshot editor's toolbar groups, the dictation pill, and the model pill
in the AI Chat window, which moved from the foot of the side rail into the
title bar. The Settings, AI Chat and screenshot editor title bars have no
band of their own any more: the sidebar's line runs to the corner and a
conversation scrolls under the bar. When one of those windows is behind
another, its glass goes out.
Icons: The settings panels and the launcher's own rows draw Phosphor
icons, white on a coloured tile, in place of the rendered plaques and the
hand-drawn line glyphs. Fourteen muted hues, with related panels sharing
one. The clipboard kinds and the AI timeline's step marks are Phosphor
too. The 126 plaque images are gone from the app.
