No more false update alarms

What’s new

Changes

  • No more false update alarms. Routine "you're up to date" results no longer appear as "Update couldn't be completed" — the menu only flags genuine update problems, and a downloaded update keeps its "ready to install" banner until you act on it.
  • Safer filenames, everywhere. Email PDFs, per-email folders, and attachments now share one filename cleaner that strips characters filesystems and sync services choke on — including invisible Unicode tricks that could disguise a name — and never overwrites a same-named filing that synced in from another Mac; collisions get a " 2" suffix instead.
  • Saves you can trust. Double-taps and overlapping saves can't double-file, a drop landing mid-save stays queued instead of being wiped, and attachments commit atomically so a failed save leaves no half-written folder behind. An Outlook drag with no usable payload now waits for the drop inbox instead of beeping, and a launch recovers files stranded by a crash.
  • Duplicate detection that survives edits. A PDF rewritten in place — say, by a colleague's sync — is noticed, and renamed email folders are still recognized as already filed.
  • Tracking protection is now mandatory. Rendered email can't load remote content unless Maildrop's blocklist is active, so untrusted email is never shown unprotected.
  • Parse-quality warnings. Emails with degraded decodes show a per-row warning instead of failing silently, and MIME boundary text inside a message no longer truncates the archive.
  • Smarter suggestions. Matter matching now considers To/Cc recipients, and the AI toggle can always be switched off, even when Apple's on-device model is unavailable.
  • Statistics that survive a menu-bar app's life. The anonymous daily ping retries on a schedule instead of only at launch — offline days are made up, never lost. Still counts-only, still opt-out.
