Filed PDFs now look like the email actually looked
What’s new
Changes
- Filed PDFs now look like the email actually looked. Background colors print at last — colored banners, shaded table rows, and buttons no longer vanish, and white-on-color text is no longer invisible white-on-white in the record.
- Wide emails keep every column. A fixed-width table wider than the page (ledgers, rent schedules) used to be cut off at the right margin — amounts simply missing from the record. Wide emails now shrink to fit the page, like printing from a browser: smaller type, nothing lost, and still crisp when you zoom in.
- Nothing between attachments is dropped any more. An email written as text, then a photo, then more text used to keep only the first text run in the PDF. Every run now appears, in order.
- Forwarded emails file as readable PDFs. An email forwarded as an attachment used to land in the matter folder as a raw .eml file most previews can't open. It now files as a fully rendered PDF named after its subject, with the forwarded email's own attachments saved beside it.
- The PDF now documents its own filing. Each record lists the attachments filed with it, carries the thread references that link a reply to the email it answered, and discloses in fine print if any part of the message couldn't be decoded cleanly.
- Fewer mangled characters. The € sign and curly quotes survive mislabeled encodings, and a message with a slightly corrupted transfer encoding now decodes to its real text instead of a page of base64 gibberish.
