RAChecker 0.18.0
Genre filters, genre sorting and a Japanese UI
Genre support contributed by @DesertDoggy in #33 — thank you.
- Every game now knows its genre. RetroAchievements only hands it out one game at a time, so RAChecker fetches it in a resumable background job under Settings › General › Genres. Once fetched it survives a rebuild of the hash database.
- The collection filters by the 19 major genres RetroAchievements documents, with a collapsible sub-genre box underneath that narrows to the selected genre.
- The games list shows the genre on every entry and can sort by it.
- The interface is available in Japanese.

RAChecker Android 0.7.1
Android APK build 0.7.1. Install the .apk on your device (allow "unknown sources"). The in-app updater picks up this release automatically.
Nintendo DS games are found now
The app could not match a single DS game before this build, for two independent reasons: .nds was missing from the list of extensions the folder scan looks at, and the hash it computed was a plain whole-file MD5.
That hash can never match. A .nds is a container, not a flat ROM — RetroAchievements hashes its header plus the ARM9/ARM7 code and icon blocks the header points at, and ignores everything in between. RAChecker now does the same, using a port of the rcheevos rule.
The hashes were checked against RAHasher over 14 real dumps (EU/DE, including DSi-enhanced titles) and are identical in every case. As a side effect DS ROMs also hash quickly: only the parts the hash needs are read, about 1 MB instead of the whole 128 MB file.
Also in this build
- Security updates for the bundled dependencies.
Signed with the same key as 0.7.0, so this installs straight over an existing RAChecker without uninstalling first.

RAChecker Android 0.7.0

Important
Read this first.
- Big files take minutes. Decompression runs in JavaScript, so a multi-gigabyte disc image inside a
.7zcan take several minutes on a phone. The scan shows unpacking progress — it is working, not frozen. - Sync your disc systems. Disc images can only match if you selected and synced those systems in the Hash DB tab.
- Still desktop-only: RAR archives, GameCube/Wii, RVZ/GCZ/GDI, split CUE/BIN, M3U, and CHDs whose data is FLAC-compressed.
What's new
The app opens on your profile, and scanning never starts on its own any more. A scan reads every file in the folder, so it now only runs when you ask for it. Both are yours to change under Settings → Scanning & start — pick any tab as the start screen, and turn "scan the saved folder on launch" back on if you liked it that way.
Compressed disc images (.cso/.zso) hash on the device. Common for PSP. Only the parts of the image the hash actually needs are decompressed, so it takes a moment rather than minutes. (Closes #8 on the desktop side too.)
A game's points are right. RetroAchievements returns no point total for a game, which is why the game view could read "0 pts" while an achievement showed 3. It is now summed from the achievement set and shown together with your own standing — "3 of 514 points".
The achievement list can be filtered the way the RetroAchievements page does it: missable, progression, win condition, unlocked, remaining. The type is marked on each achievement.
Achievement of the Week now names the game and the system it belongs to, and opens the game when tapped.
Requires Android 7+. The APK is signed with the same key as previous releases, so it installs over 0.5.x/0.6.x without losing your hash DB, collection or login.
RAChecker 0.12.0
Full Changelog: v0.11.2...v0.12.0
RAChecker Android 0.5.1
Standalone Android app — no PC or server needed. Install the APK and allow "install from unknown sources" (it is unsigned).
⚠️ Read this first
This app is early. It works, but:
- Big files take minutes. Decompression runs in JavaScript. A multi-gigabyte disc image inside a
.7ztakes several minutes on a phone (a 1.6 GB image measures ≈1.5 min on a PC, noticeably longer on an older device). The scan shows unpacking progress in percent — it is working, not frozen. For a whole library, the desktop app is far faster. - Sync your disc systems. Disc images can only match if you selected and synced those systems in the Hash DB tab. If you used an earlier version, re-sync — disc systems were missing from the sync list before 0.5.0.
- Still desktop-only: RAR archives, GameCube/Wii, CSO/RVZ/GCZ/GDI, split CUE/BIN, M3U, and CHDs whose data happens to be FLAC-compressed.
Bug reports are very welcome — please open an issue.
What's new in 0.5.1
- Zstandard CHDs now work. Recent
chdmanversions use zstd by default, so many current CHD files simply failed before — and the app wrongly blamed the image ("not a recognised disc image") instead of naming the real reason. - Large 7z archives no longer crawl or run out of memory. The compressed data is read in slices instead of all at once; a 1.6 GB disc image inside a 7z went from effectively unusable to a few minutes.
- Unpacking progress in percent, so a slow archive no longer looks frozen.
- Hash-DB counts now mean the same as in the desktop app (games you can earn achievements in), so the two no longer disagree for the same account.
Since 0.4.x
- 7z archives are unpacked and hashed on the phone, including disc images stored inside them.
- Disc systems added to the hash sync — without this a disc image hashed correctly but could never match anything.
- Clear scan results: earns achievements · recognised game with no achievement set yet · system not synced yet · not known to RetroAchievements.
- ZIP files using LZMA compression are now read too.
- Content-based identification — every plausible hash for a file is computed and looked up, so a correctly dumped ROM matches regardless of how you organise your folders.
- On-device disc hashing (CHD, ISO, PBP) for PlayStation, PS2, PSP, Saturn, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PC Engine CD, PC-FX, 3DO, Neo Geo CD and Atari Jaguar CD.
- Quick Wins now lists games from your collection; Atari Lynx header fix; theme colour fix; changelog popup after an update.
