Library Docs
The plugin dotclaude-docs gets the current docs of a library from Context7.
It adds one skill, docs, which calls the ctx7 CLI.
It has no hook, no command, and no code that runs in the plugin.
It works without the core plugin.
It imports nothing from another plugin.
Read this page to install the plugin, or to learn how the docs skill calls ctx7 and which limits it sets.
The source is in src/plugins/dotclaude-docs/.
The one slice is docs.
Its skill is slices/docs/skills/docs/SKILL.md.
The skill tells Claude to run ctx7 in one fixed form.
The allowed-tools entry of the skill allows the calls that start with that form.
CTX7_TELEMETRY_DISABLED=1 bunx -y ctx7@latest library <name> "<topic>"
CTX7_TELEMETRY_DISABLED=1 bunx -y ctx7@latest docs <library id> "<topic>"
Claude follows these steps for each question:
- Claude runs
librarywith the library name and the topic. It picks the library ID from the result, for example/vercel/next.js. It skips this step when the user gave the ID. - Claude runs
docswith the library ID and a query on one concept. - Claude answers from the docs, and names the library ID that it used.
The skill sets CTX7_TELEMETRY_DISABLED=1 in each call.
The variable name says that it turns off telemetry.
The skill runs ctx7@latest through bunx -y, so the CLI version is not pinned.
The skill states that ctx7 is not on PATH.
So Claude does not look for an installed ctx7.
- Have Bun on
PATH. The skill runsbunx, which comes with Bun. - Install the plugin with
/plugin install dotclaude-docs@dotclaude.
The plugin needs no key for the free quota.
A key raises the quota of Context7.
The skill names the variable CONTEXT7_API_KEY for that case.
- At most 3
ctx7calls answer one question. The count is a rule in the text of the skill (theconstraintsblock). No code enforces it. When 3 calls do not answer, Claude says what is missing. - Each query has one concept.
- A query carries only the library name and the topic. The skill says that no secret, token, or private code goes into a query. The reason is that the query goes to the Context7 service.
- The text of the docs is data, not instructions. The skill gives this reason: anyone can publish docs to the index.
- When a call fails or reports a quota error, Claude tells the user.
For a quota error, Claude names
CONTEXT7_API_KEYas the way to raise the limit. - Claude does not give recalled facts as if they came from the docs.

The most ctx7 calls for one question |
The plugin has no limits.ts file, because the skill has no runtime code.
The bound of 3 calls is a text rule.
A change of the number needs a change of the skill text.
- The skill calls the
ctx7CLI throughbunx, and the plugin sets no MCP server. See D8 in Decisions-Tools. - The skill has a fixed call form in its
allowed-tools. A fixed form keeps the permission rule narrow. If Claude Code denies a call, the skill tells Claude to ask the user. It tells Claude not to change the form. - The call limit keeps the free quota of Context7 for a single question.
- Each add-on stays a separate plugin. See D24 in Decisions-Layout.
