Settings Snippet Keys

Each key of the settings snippet has a reason. This page gives the value, the effect in Claude Code, and the reason for each key. The snippet sets a key only when the default of Claude Code does not give the result that claudetto needs. The facts are for Claude Code 2.1.303.

Who Sets Which Key

Each slice in src/plugins/claudetto/slices/ adds its settings entries to the snippet.

A test checks the keys against schemas/claude-code-settings.json, so a key that the schema lacks fails.

claudetto-setup --advisor claudetto also sets CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_ADVISOR_TOOL=1, so that Claude sees one advisor. The value is not in the snippet block, because it depends on the advisor option. The snippet never sets the entries of Never-Set Settings.

The ask list has 25 git rules that name the destructive flags, such as git push* --force and git reset* --hard. It also asks for docker run, create, compose run, and compose up with a mount or --privileged, for rm with a recursive flag, for sudo, for a package publish, for write commands of gh, and for SQL that drops data. The allow list has Glob, Grep, and read-only or test commands of git, gh, and the common build tools.

The Deny List

Keys That the Snippet Does Not Set

• autoMode: the snippet holds no autoMode list, and claudetto-setup writes none.
• promptCacheTtl: the env var CLAUDE_CODE_PROMPT_CACHE_TTL does the work.
• cleanupPeriodDays: the Claude Code default of 30 days applies.
• effortLevel: each model keeps its default.
• advisorModel: the advise slice reads its own advisorModel option.
