Codex Styler 0.1.0-alpha.5 — macOS Apple Silicon Alpha
Codex Styler 0.1.0-alpha.5
This Alpha adds two flagship themes, a six-character companion library, and a signed in-app update path. It also strengthens theme creation, runtime styling, companion rendering, and recovery behavior across the complete Codex workspace.
Warning
The macOS application is ad-hoc signed but not signed with an Apple Developer ID and not notarized by Apple. On first launch, use Finder's Control-click → Open flow. Do not disable Gatekeeper globally.
Download and install
- Download
Codex-Styler_0.1.0-alpha.5_aarch64-unsigned.dmg. - Open the DMG and drag Codex Styler to Applications.
- In Applications, Control-click Codex Styler, choose Open, then confirm once.
- Choose a theme, select a companion, and use Apply to Codex.
Requires macOS 13 or later on Apple Silicon. Intel Macs and Windows are not included in this preview.
What changed
- Add Gilded Grandeur, an obsidian-and-gold flagship theme paired with Reset God by default.
- Add Merry Big Top, a playful circus theme paired with Token Thief by default.
- Ship six independent companions: Moss, Reset God, Token Thief, Pico, Puddle, and Mochi.
- Keep themes and companions independent while presenting intentional default pairings.
- Apply complete semantic palettes, themed icon containers, composition modes, decorations, readability protection, and motion recipes across Codex.
- Create themes from a blank canvas, an imported image, or an existing design without forcing an unrelated base theme.
- Save, validate, export, apply, reset, and delete local themes through one consistent workflow.
- Check GitHub Releases from Settings, inspect release notes, skip a version, or download, install, and restart from the update panel.
Companion quality
- Preserve source resolution and use shared crops and ground lines instead of per-frame resizing.
- Calibrate directions from cardinal anchors and perceptual motion rather than assuming constant video speed.
- Remove blue, purple, and magenta key backgrounds, gray plate noise, floor shadows, and corner watermarks without altering centered subject pixels.
- Keep natural blinks and small character motions while providing smooth pointer-aware transitions.
- Reposition attached companions when the Codex composer changes height, while retaining free drag placement.
Safety and compatibility
- Theme packages remain data-only and cannot execute scripts, load remote resources, inject arbitrary CSS, or include executable content.
- Enhanced mode applies and verifies the complete theme first; Conservative mode keeps styling isolated when a safer fallback is needed.
- Codex Styler can request permission to close and restart Codex instead of requiring manual process management.
- Restore removes injected roots and returns Codex to the official interface without patching the application bundle.
- Update manifests and archives are signed and verified before installation.
Verification
- 27 desktop tests and 16 theme-core tests pass.
- Rust formatting, Clippy, tests, and dependency audit are release gates.
- Desktop and bilingual Astro documentation production builds pass.
- The generated validator is synchronized with the public JSON Schema.
- All 19 generated documentation pages pass local-link validation.

--repo xuhuanstudio/codex-stylerKnown limitations
- The preview is currently built for macOS Apple Silicon only.
- The app is not yet Developer ID signed or notarized.
- Codex updates can change internal semantic surfaces; Enhanced mode verifies the result and falls back instead of relying only on version numbers.
Codex Styler 0.1.0-alpha.4 — macOS Apple Silicon Alpha
Codex Styler 0.1.0-alpha.4
This Alpha rebuilds the product around a unified theme library and a complete semantic styling contract. Themes can now begin from an image, a blank canvas, or an existing design; built-in themes create editable local copies; and the Codex runtime receives the full palette, composition, icon, motion, and readability system instead of a partial color overlay.
Warning
This build is ad-hoc signed but not signed with an Apple Developer ID and not notarized by Apple. On first launch, use Finder's Control-click → Open flow. Do not disable Gatekeeper globally.
Download and install
- Download
Codex-Styler_0.1.0-alpha.4_aarch64-unsigned.dmg. - Open the DMG and drag Codex Styler to Applications.
- In Applications, Control-click Codex Styler, choose Open, then confirm once.
- Choose or create a theme, select Apply to Codex, and approve the normal Codex restart when prompted.
Requires macOS 13 or later on Apple Silicon. Intel Macs and Windows are not included in this preview.
What changed
- Use the new Home to see the applied theme, independent companion, runtime compatibility strategy, and primary actions in one place.
- Browse Built-in and My Themes in one library, import a theme package, or create from an image, a blank canvas, or an existing theme.
- Customize a built-in design as a local copy without mutating the bundled original.
- Save, reset, export, apply, and delete local themes from the same contextual workflow.
- Apply all 182 observed Codex semantic color tokens with contrast-aware roles instead of leaving isolated native colors behind.
- Treat icons through safe containers without overriding SVG view boxes, paths, transforms, or intrinsic aspect ratios.
- Keep new-task metadata, suggestions, and the composer readable when window height or content changes.
- Select a motion recipe independently from the theme's color and image direction.
- Keep companions independent, draggable, and attached to live semantic surfaces when requested.
Theme format additions
The public v1 schema now exposes an optional semantic palette and motion recipe while retaining the existing data-only package boundary. Built-in, imported, image-derived, and blank themes all use the same validated contract and runtime path.
Theme packages cannot execute scripts, load remote resources, inject arbitrary CSS, or include executable content.
Verification
- 19 desktop tests, 12 theme-core tests, and 7 Rust tests pass.
- Desktop and bilingual Astro documentation production builds pass.
- The generated theme validator is synchronized with the public JSON Schema.
- Playwright visual checks cover Home, the theme library, creation choices, the nested editor, and English GitHub presentation.
- Release version metadata is synchronized across the monorepo, Tauri configuration, documentation site, and download links.

Codex Styler 0.1.0-alpha.3 — macOS Apple Silicon Alpha
Codex Styler 0.1.0-alpha.3
This Alpha turns Codex Styler from a small set of fixed looks into a reusable visual system. Imported images can now generate a complete, contrast-aware theme direction, companions can attach to live Codex surfaces, and the managed restart flow is available directly from the connection card.
Warning
This build is ad-hoc signed but not signed with an Apple Developer ID and not notarized by Apple. On first launch, use Finder's Control-click → Open flow. Do not disable Gatekeeper globally.
Download and install
- Download
Codex-Styler_0.1.0-alpha.3_aarch64-unsigned.dmg. - Open the DMG and drag Codex Styler to Applications.
- In Applications, Control-click Codex Styler, choose Open, then confirm once.
- Select a theme and choose Restart and apply. Styler will ask before sending Codex a normal quit request and relaunching it with a loopback-only debugging connection.
Requires macOS 13 or later on Apple Silicon. Intel Macs and Windows are not included in this preview.
What changed
- Import a local PNG, JPEG, or WebP and generate a complete visual direction from its luminance, dominant color, accent, saturation, and contrast.
- Switch between Balanced, Cinematic, Soft, and Vivid adaptive systems, then refine the result in the editor.
- Customize workspace composition, icon treatment, detail intensity, surfaces, radius, motion, and independent companion pairing.
- Apply theme-owned shell treatments across navigation, home content, suggestions, projects, dialogs, conversation surfaces, the composer, and thread summary.
- Normalize transparent companion frames with one shared scale and ground line, preventing direction changes from resizing or vertically shifting the character.
- Snap companions to the composer or workspace and keep them aligned when the target changes height or is recreated after navigation.
- Restart Codex from the connection card through an explicit confirmation flow instead of requiring a manual quit.
- Use Enhanced mode by default to apply and verify the live interface; Conservative mode remains available for isolated rendering.
- Keep light and dark text readable with automatic contrast protection.
Theme format additions
The public v1 schema now exposes semantic entity attachments, alpha-aware grounded normalization, workspace layout, icon treatment, and decoration intensity. Built-in themes use the same contract as imported themes.
Theme packages remain data-only. They cannot execute scripts, load remote resources, or inject arbitrary CSS.
Verification
- 14 desktop tests, 11 theme-core tests, and 7 Rust tests pass.
- Desktop and bilingual Astro documentation production builds pass.
- The generated theme schema validator is synchronized with the public schema.
- Playwright checks cover image-adaptive creation, light and dark readability, companion placement, settings, and editor controls.

Codex Styler 0.1.0-alpha.2 — macOS Apple Silicon Alpha
Codex Styler 0.1.0-alpha.2
This Alpha corrects the first preview's most visible limitation: semantic themes now affect the complete Codex workspace on recognized versions instead of only showing through the sidebar.
Warning
This build is ad-hoc signed but not signed with an Apple Developer ID and not notarized by Apple. On first launch, use Finder's Control-click → Open flow. Do not disable Gatekeeper globally.
Download and install
- Download
Codex-Styler_0.1.0-alpha.2_aarch64-unsigned.dmg. - Open the DMG and drag Codex Styler to Applications.
- In Applications, Control-click Codex Styler, choose Open, then confirm once.
- Quit an existing Codex session manually before asking Styler to launch a managed session.
Requires macOS 13 or later on Apple Silicon. Intel Macs and Windows are not included in this preview.
What changed
- Semantic styling now covers the Codex main surface, header, conversation cards, dialogs, and composer on recognized versions.
- The background and companion use separate click-through runtime layers, so the companion remains visible without blocking Codex controls.
- Quiet Garden now ships an original transparent eight-direction Moss gecko atlas that follows pointer direction.
- Manager styling is now neutral and utility-focused, with system, light, and dark modes.
- Language selection is a dropdown whose first choice follows the system language.
- Theme-index rows are clickable across their full width.
- Local themes can be deleted with confirmation and archive cleanup.
- GitHub documentation now uses an English product screenshot.
- Automatic mode now tries semantic styling first, verifies the live result, and falls back only when an anomaly is detected.
- Compatibility mode keeps styling isolated; Developer mode forces semantic styling for adapter work.
- The custom title bar can be dragged using the native Tauri window API.
- The app, installers, website, and documentation use a new original Codex Styler CS-orbit identity.
Compatibility and verification
The installed Codex Desktop 26.707.91948 application resources were checked for the adapter signatures app-shell-left-panel, main-surface, app-header-tint, and composer-surface-chrome. The earlier 26.707.72221 adapter remains recognized. A new version is not blocked by its version number alone: Automatic mode applies the semantic adapter, verifies its anchors and computed styles, and falls back to the isolated compatibility layer if verification fails.
The complete managed launch → apply → pause → restore release gate still requires a clean secondary device because the development machine is carrying an active Codex work session. This limitation is explicit, and the release remains Alpha.

Codex Styler 0.1.0-alpha.1 — macOS Apple Silicon Alpha
Codex Styler 0.1.0-alpha.1
This is the first installable macOS Apple Silicon preview of Codex Styler. It is intended for early evaluation and issue reporting, not production-critical workflows.
Warning
This build is ad-hoc signed but not signed with an Apple Developer ID and not notarized by Apple. macOS will identify it as software from an unidentified developer. Use Finder's Control-click → Open flow on first launch. Do not disable Gatekeeper globally.

- Install OpenAI Codex Desktop separately. Quit an existing Codex session manually before asking Styler to launch a managed session.
Requires macOS 13 or later on Apple Silicon. Intel Macs and Windows are not included in this preview.
Included
- Native Refined, Nocturne Studio, and Quiet Garden Companion.
- English and Simplified Chinese manager UI.
- Guided theme editing, local theme library, import, and export.
- Data-only theme validation and strict archive safety limits.
- Loopback-only managed Codex launch, safe-mode scene injection, pause, and restore.
- SHA-256 checksums, an SPDX 2.3 dependency SBOM exported from GitHub's dependency graph, and GitHub build/SBOM attestations.
Verification status
The DMG structure, Apple Silicon architecture, application identifier, version metadata, ad-hoc hardened-runtime signature, native UI rendering, and detection of Codex Desktop 26.707.72221 have been verified on macOS Apple Silicon.
The complete managed launch → apply → pause → restore chain has not yet completed its release-gate test on a clean secondary device. Unknown Codex versions therefore remain restricted to safe mode, and this build must remain an Alpha pre-release.
Verify the download checksum from the directory containing both downloaded files:
