v1.6.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 22 Sep 06:40

Git calls, WezTerm launches, and Codex's auto-reviewed permission requests each got their own fix this release: SystemGit now passes CREATE_NO_WINDOW so deleting a pet no longer flashes a console per worktree check; the WezTerm preset points at wezterm-gui.exe instead of the console-subsystem wezterm.exe, which used to take the terminal down when its own console closed; and a Codex pet stops flipping into an attention hold for permission requests its auto_review reviewer was about to settle on its own — pdd forward now reads who's reviewing off the turn context instead of guessing.

pet-engine also stops losing a pet's physics state during a movement hold (the game/keyboard-control claim that pins a pet's body).

The landing page's feature section, unrevised since v1.1.0, is rebuilt around what the app can actually do now — worktrees, the ball, window binding, voices, quiet mode, per-pet agent selection — replacing six stale points with seven that each play footage of the thing they describe instead of borrowed clips.

v1.5.0

pdd show/hide could only address a pet by the folder it was bound to, which made a --no-cwd pet unreachable — no folder resolves to it, and hatching never opens its window on its own. They now take a pet id the same way delete and update already do, with --cwd still available to name a folder instead. This also fixes the Orca worktree hook in the CLI README, which was already calling pdd show --cwd, a flag that didn't exist yet.

v1.4.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 11 Sep 05:23

pdd worktree add <branch> does in one command what used to be git worktree add followed by a separate hatch: it creates or checks out the branch, defaults the folder to <repo>-worktrees beside the repository, and hatches a pet into it — with ls and rm alongside it. The desktop app gets the same flow from two places: a dialog on the pet standing in the source folder, and a row in that pet's context menu, both previewing where the folder will land and showing git's own refusals verbatim (uncommitted work, an occupied folder, a branch that already exists).

Deleting a pet whose folder is a worktree now asks whether the worktree goes with it, with its own warning if there's uncommitted work in it — nothing else was tracking those folders, so they used to just get abandoned on disk.

Settings also gains a proper terminal picker: the launch command is a template ({cwd}/{command}) rather than a fixed list of known terminals, so any terminal works by being typed in, with detection only prefilling the field for common ones.

v1.3.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 09 Sep 04:40

pdd hatch --no-cwd adopts a pet with nothing bound to it yet, to bind a folder to later — the core already allowed an unbound pet, only the CLI insisted on one up front. A folderless pet answers to no agent source, and a bug that invented a placeholder source id to keep such a pet visible could let a stray agent event drive it into a false "Working" state; that placeholder is gone, so an unbound pet now correctly answers to nothing. Also clarifies what each pet context menu action does.

v1.2.1

@github-actions github-actions released this 07 Sep 07:48

Pets get personality-driven voices — each preset speaks in animalese tuned to its temperament — with settings to shape both the voice and what a pet's context menu shows. The context menu itself is streamlined and pets can now be managed directly from it. Also smooths a stutter in animalese playback.

v1.2.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Sep 09:31

The world gets its first entity that is a body rather than a marker: a ball that falls, rolls, bounces off walls and stays where it lands, built almost entirely from pieces that already existed — physics, drag, and a kick written as the same throw impulse a mouse flick already produces.

Game mode follows on top of it. A pet can be handed a practice course of hurdles that scroll past it, or a tool-use course the agent itself lays: reading, editing and running each get their own obstacle shape, waiting halts the course at a gate, and completed/failed end the round — so the game running is the report, not a second thing competing with it. A pilot plays the practice round on its own when nobody is driving, and jumping an obstacle got fixed to actually scale with a pet's size (a full-size pet needed 53 ticks of clearance against the 27 it had).

The user can also take a pet by hand — click to steer it left/right and jump with space, Escape or a click away to hand it back — which is what makes the mid-round handoff during a game possible.

Also fixes Claude Code listing the Codex-only skills a second time as slash commands.

v1.1.0

chore(release): v1.1.0

Per-pet agent selection is a new feature, so the product moves to 1.1.0 across
all 13 manifests plus the Cargo.lock entries for the workspace members.

The tag is deliberately not cut here: `pnpm release:bump` refuses to run on
gitbutler/workspace and this is a feature branch, so tag this commit from main
once it lands rather than running the bump again (which would take it to 1.2.0).

v1.0.1

@github-actions github-actions released this 24 Aug 11:59
fix(release): swap in an updater key we actually hold the password to

The v1.0.1 run bundled the installer fine and then died signing the
updater artifact: the private key and the password secret disagreed.
Regenerated the pair so both halves are known, and pointed the config
at the new public key. No shipped release carried the old one, so
nothing in the wild verifies against it.

v1.0.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 23 Aug 06:19

The first stable release. Every version-carrying manifest — 13 in total, from the desktop app down to the Rust crates behind it and the plugin a user installs — now moves on one tag, so pdd --version and the installed plugin finally agree with what shipped; nothing older made that promise.

The pdd CLI. A pet used to exist only inside the running desktop app. pdd now reads and writes the same state file directly, through a cross-process lock the app and the CLI both honor, so hatch, bind, unbind, update, note, show/hide, and delete all work whether or not the app is open. It ships inside the installer and adds itself to PATH. The Rust side behind it split into pets-driven-core (the authoritative pet + working-directory state), pets-driven-fs (the locked on-disk repository), pets-driven-protocol (the hook-forwarding wire contract), and pets-driven-cli itself — four crates with no Tauri dependency, so nothing here links the desktop shell.

Personality depth. Two new presets (feisty, shrewd) fill gaps the original twelve left in well-known character archetypes; every personality now carries a second signature pose and twice its dialogue; and a working pet finally moves like the personality it has — five poses (heads-down, tinkering, pondering, fussing, loafing) instead of one shared running animation.

Items and quiet mode. Trinkets — wings, claws — now spawn, get collected, and wear off on a visible countdown, after several rounds of fixing why a clawed pet still couldn't reach a wall. Quiet Mode lets a screen-share happen without losing agent status: pets stop talking, then stop moving, while their work state keeps reporting.

Multi-pet performance. A dozen deployed pets used to cost a bundle and an IPC storm per window. Pet overlays now load a lean pet-window.html instead of the full app shell, and window placement batches into one native call per frame instead of one per pet.

Everything else. A note a pet can carry and show on its own window; Japanese joins English and Korean; settings gained a two-step, scoped reset and a category sidebar; every module got an AGENTS.md; and a long run of concurrency, layout-overflow, and localization fixes that only surfaced once the app was actually being used day to day.
