This backlog tracks planned feature requests, protocol modules, and integration milestones for HomeNode Server and the wider HomeNode ecosystem.
- Priority: High (Next development focus)
-
Component: HomeNode Server Module (
modules/bthomeor built into BLE stack) - Goal: Ingest and parse BTHome V1/V2 BLE broadcast advertisements from battery-operated sensors and beacons (Shelly BLU devices like BLU Button, BLU Door/Window, BLU Motion, BTHome DIY ESP32 sensors, thermometers).
-
Key Features:
- Passive BLE scanner listening to service data UUID
0xFCD2(BTHome V2) and0x181C/0x181E(BTHome V1). - Support for encrypted BTHome advertisements using pre-shared Binds / Encryption Keys (AES-CCM).
- Support for unencrypted BTHome sensor telemetry (temperature, humidity, illuminance, battery %, motion, button press events).
- Auto-discovery and creation of HomeNode device entities under
Sensors & DetectorsorSmart Home & IoT. - Integration into the HomeNode Supervisor event bus / gRPC upsert.
- Forwarding / bridging to Matter fabric as Matter Sensor or Switch endpoints.
- Passive BLE scanner listening to service data UUID
- Priority: Medium / Backlog
-
Component: HomeNode Server (
homenode-module-tuya/definitions) & mHomeNode iOS App -
Goal: Full local control and telemetry ingestion for Tuya-based OEM devices (e.g., LSC Smart Connect Micro Solar Inverters, Tuya smart plugs, Wi-Fi relays) on local port
6668. -
Key Features:
-
Server Module Settings (
config/modules/tuya.toml):- Optional Cloud API credentials (
client_id/ Access ID,secret/ Access Secret,endpointe.g.https://openapi.tuyaeu.com). - Device registry mapping Virtual IDs (
device_id), IP addresses, and 16-bytelocal_keys.
- Optional Cloud API credentials (
-
Home Assistant Bridge / Key Extraction:
- Automatic import of
local_keyand entities from local Home Assistant (http://192.168.178.100:8123) via.storage/core.config_entriesor REST API.
- Automatic import of
-
mHomeNode iOS Companion App User Flow:
- Native Tuya authorization flow in the iOS app (e.g. via QR code scan or Tuya OAuth login).
- Automatic token exchange and device key retrieval directly from Tuya Cloud on iOS.
- End-to-end encrypted synchronization of retrieved
local_keys anddevice_ids from the iOS app to HomeNode Server.
-
Local Inverter Poller:
- Native Rust Tuya 3.3 / 3.4 protocol client connecting directly to device IP on port
6668. - Live polling of PV generation wattage (
$W$ ), daily yield ($kWh$ ), and grid voltage ($V$ ). - Feed live solar data into the HomeNode Server Energy Dashboard.
- Native Rust Tuya 3.3 / 3.4 protocol client connecting directly to device IP on port
-
