05. Connection modes
The launcher has three persistent connection modes. The selected mode stays active until you change it.
Use this when the SWD interface is available.
SWD may be available because:
- the current firmware does not disable it;
- the VCU was powered while holding the turn indicator buttons, entering a service mode where SWD is available.
Try this mode first if you expect normal SWD access to work.
Use this with common clone ST-LINK adapters.
Many clone adapters do not have a working reset pin. Mode B uses a guided connect-under-reset procedure instead. The launcher tells you when to connect C45 to GND and when to release it.
This is the most common mode because clone ST-LINK adapters are easy to buy.
Use this with a genuine ST-LINK adapter that has a working reset pin.
The adapter reset pin connects to the MCU nRST line. On these VCUs, that reset line is available at capacitor C45.
Mode B also shows:
[T] Set countdown timer
Use this if you need more or less time during the manual C45-to-GND steps.
