Purpose

Most value their time far less than it is worth. By placing a high value on your time, you can achieve much more in much less time.

Summary

  • Being constantly busy and exhausted is not a good thing or a "badge of honor"; it means you're doing too much and/or distracted from doing anything with true focus. Who's in charge of you time? You? Or everyone else?
  • True focus and "deep work" come from saying "no" to most things, saying "yes" to only true priorities. To be truly productive, do not tolerate any distractions as you work; cultivate extreme focus.
  • Others will recognize how you value your time. Knowingly or not, people will treat you differently depending on how you treat yourself and your own time. Respect yourself, know your time is valuable, don't say "yes" to everything, and others will respect you likewise.
  • You probably need to say "no" more. Many successful people have shared dogmas and sentiments about turning down the vast majority of opportunities presented to them, in order to fully focus on their chosen priorities.
